    Grafting and all its wonders

So I was chillin with my grandpa yesterday in his garden and saw something odd. He has a citrus tree. Half of it grows oranges and half of it grows grapefruit. He uses a technique called grafting where he chops half the tree off then take branches from a grapefruit tree. He then scrapes away the outer bark on each the branch and the spot on the trunk where he wishes to place it, leaving the green underbark (forgot what he called it) and tapes the branches in place. Just curious, is it possible/has anyone tried this with cannabis plants? I would love to have a half and half plant growing two types of MJ.

    Grafting and all its wonders

I know that there has been much ado regarding grafting marijuana onto other plants, like hops, but I never thought about marijuana on marijuana. I'm not too much a botanical person, so I'll have to check this post out hoping someone informative comes along. It would be cool indeed to have two types of buds off of one plant.

Slowly and stressfully would be my guess. Especially if it were a hollow-stemmed strain you were using.
Theoretically it sounds possible, but not sure if at all practical. Spending all that effort, and the extra healing time for a possibly pointless and fruitless endeavour.
There is one way to find out, tho...give it a go.

    hah, agreed :-)

this sounds tempting... at worst you will end up with a dead plant "on the side"

    Grafting and all its wonders

I remember seeing a thread about this once before. I think it was pretty much deteremined that it would stress the plant to the point of it being a hermie, having very weak buds, or dying all together.

I think there were a number of other issues. There were some very knowledgable people in this thread. I wish I could find it again.

It never hurts to try it on one plant if you have the seeds/clones to spare.

I say go for it and start making a log out of it. At least we'll have a definitive answer at that point regardless of the outcome.
