I guess it's a review, but I was looking around for something like this for a long ass time before I decided to fork over $120 for a pocket vape. Theres straight up no info whatsoever outside of vapman made ads.
I got some advice from the grow area a while back, so I figured id return the favor. I'm a new smoker since a few years ago, but recently I really didn't like the idea of being a smoker... because that's what you really are if you have gone through as much as me. Thats alot of smoke, and Im guessing even though it's not cigarette smoke, you still have tar and carbon buildup in your lungs eventually..
I recently bought a 'pH(x) 5.0' and instituted a carbon filter on it. The smoke was cleaned, and the potency wasn't seemingly touched. Milk white rippage flowing through the ice maze until finally you inhale a cool stream of crisp mountain air. Carbon filters are great because tar and smoke particles are trapped inside. A common misconception is that multiple water chambers clean the smoke in a similar way, but in fact THC gets absorbed by water faster than tar or particulate matter. Harsh smoke is defined by temperature and the amount of tar and smoke particles. Temperature can be controlled easily with water, ice, contact with surface area, or if you have a high quality stream of vapor, by introducing and mixing in a large quantity of ambient air. If you only vaporize the cannabis at ~300 or so, theres no combustion, and no smoke or tar...
Whatever, so I went out and bought a vapman pocket vaporizer. I decided not to buy the butane torch they were offering with it for an extra $20... kind've a waste seeing as I bought a sleek metal torch lighter from CVS for $3, small too.
It arrived with a brochure, stickers, a water tattoo, and a grate replacement for the vaporization chamber. It was much smaller than I had imagined, and upon inspection were several details that were more carefully thought out than I had suspected. The case is really rigid, and holds everything in place very well. Theres a place for the feeding ramp to rest on. A little extra space inside, but I need a small bag for that.
Im a studying mechanical engineer, and the design is pretty perfect for the intended purpose. This thing is form emphasizing function, swiss made. The tiny bits are cared for. Theres really effective insulation surrounding the chamber which keeps the outside only warm. The chamber is composed of a copper core with gold plating so that it has a high heat capacity and heat transfer rate. The 3x tubes connected to the chamber which pull air through to the inside get hot, and warm the air. I prefer to suck vapor instead of smoke, but if you wanted smoke, you could create it by heating the tubes instead of the chamber and pulling very hot air inside. Or you could just heat it for longer- it's a very efficient little oven.
Is the smoke hot? No. Theres 3x larger holes preceedind the intake of the chamber. The holes are larger, and especially because as a tube they are very short, the friction factor of the hole is much less. Much more ambient air comes in than vapor (smoke if you prefer), I'd suspect almost 10x more.
The mixture is very mild, and you can hold your breath for much longer because the air wasn't part of combustion. I used to smoke about a gram or so of high quality herbs 5-6 days a week, and I can get noticeably much higher from a fresh initial burst off the vape.
With my cheap lighter, I torch the bottom for 10 seconds initially, then 5 seconds for a second go-around. It roasts finely ground herby smelly things into decrepit brown burnt popcorn smelling bits that crumble under anything. The picture with used up herb is well done, normally I'd be more gentle on it but the sticky dregs... well... you can also roast it until it is pure black if your heart really desired, but I feel everything comes out of the herb as soon as it turns amber.
Aside from that stuff..
Upside: looks like the engine on one of those naboo racerpods, very stealth (no smoke unless you desire), vapor/smoke smells like popcorn, very small.
Downside: The edges of the wood top slightly blackened a bit after my first 1/4 through it. It hasn't gotten any worse, but it hasn't gotten better either.jelloscooter Reviewed by jelloscooter on . and 2 last pics of it that were taken.
Forgot to add, the little loading ramp is actually a solid piece of some alloy that had to be machined out... it's slightly oversize what would be a flush fit on the chamber, but it may have been designed that way... because it is much easier to remove without disturbing what you just added.
Now- it's time for me to abuse that and get fed

BTW reviews are awesome. When it comes to the vaporizers the only info you can find is basically what the rave reviews they give their own products. Theres alot of weak and expensive ones out there too.
