 Dirty resevoir wateringIt's generally not a good idea to feed from the bottom, unless you're running a hydro setup or a wick system. When feeding from the top in soil, you may still get a few pockets of dry soil, but at least the runoff isn't left soaking in the bottom of the pot. Root rot and suffocation of the bottom-feeding roots is common when standing water is left to "soak in" to the pot from the bottom.
