    What are preflowers?

After you've checked that link out, head over to the "Sexing" section of the FAQs. There's more good information in there.

    .
i admit i like pulling numbers from my ass...

but once the first 2-3 weeks of flower are over, the plants done its growing (not counting buds/budmass)

most, if not really all, of the plants growth is created during the vegetative phase. id stake a bet on saying that a plant veged for 6 weeks will nearly double the yield of one grown in 3 weeks of veg. (assuming sufficient space/light for a much larger plant)

Well, most of the foliage growth and branching is usually done in veg, my plants grow huge in the first few weeks of flowering... but this still sounds better. I'll agree that plants vegged longer have the potential to be larger, but that isn't always a good thing for every grower. Especially to someone with limited head-space for their plants. Uniformity is important when you don't have much space to work with. And you're also right that flowering at three weeks (unless it's a clone) would be a mistake. If from seed, the plants most likely will not be mature enough to flower, and switching to 12/12 will cause them unneeded stress, and poor growth. After having shown preflowers, it's really up to the grower to decide when to flower.

I wasn't trying to be an ass... I just didn't want anyone getting any false expectations.

I'd like to add that in addition to preflowers, alternating nodes is another sign of sexual maturity. Not all strains will preflower in vegetative, I've personally run into many that wouldn't. So if you begin to see alternating nodes, and no preflower, flower them ladies up (assuming they're as big as you want them).

I've changed my mind on waiting a week. If i do, considering the space i have, some of the plants will be covered over by others. So imma start flower tonite, ill have the sexing results i suppose in about a week

Sup to you. Some people don't veg at all. The longer you veg the more you'll weigh. 6 or 8 weeks of veg does pretty good. Is it the lights, or do your plants need N?

Its the lights, they are all nice green looking. Yea im just anxious to see how many females i got, and i want these plants to be done by the beginning of May so i cant let them get to big. They are a good enough size to me, I think i get a good bit from them. 8 In all so if all 8 are fem [which i doubt but hope] ill have a lot, im just pressed for space also, leaves are starting to cover eachother
