My unplugged lamp glowed last night!

I was completely sober, lying in bed. I glanced over at a lamp in my bedroom that we never plugged in, because we don't need it. All of a sudden, the whole thing, shade, stand and everything glowed with a bluish-white light.

The only possible explanations I could think of:

    1) It turned on... but it was unplugged.

    2) A car's headlights shone on it. Well, a couple minutes later, a car's lights did shine on it, (and the wall, and the dresser) a slim sliver of light because the curtains were drawn.

    3) A reflection coming in from light shining through the open doorway, and reflecting off the curtains or window. But, the lamp was the only thing glowing.

So, I must conclude there is no physical explanation.

Interestingly, when I astral travel, I have been trying to turn lights on and off, but failed.

My theories are that either a spirit did it, or I did it telekinetically somehow by accident. (photokinetically?)

    Never plugged in... ever??

Capacitor's hold a charge.. if it was plugged in, even a number of days or weeks ago.. a small amount could've been stored in the capacitor and released at any random point especially if there was a bulb to take the stored charge.

Even if you didn't plug the ballast in when you bought it.. they test it when manufactured so it could still have a stored charge.
    ....

.... This is all theory of course.. but i'm sure it could happen...maybe....

Nomad, did the flash happen very quickly? Was the light REALLY bright? Like an industrial flash-bulb? Accompanied by a very quick 'Did-I-just-hear-that?' vacuum sound at the same time?!

dude, i have had a much much similar experience. i was sleeping one night and i have this old fish tank light in my closet which is right next to my bed. well this light stopped working a long time ago and i woke up and i swear to god that thing was on, so i got up and turned it off and fell back asleep. the fallowing morning i picked it up and noticed it wasnt plugged in, so i tried to turn it on again and of course it didnt turn on, so i plugged it in and the light still didnt come on. i was pretty freaked out to be honest.

Astral projection (or astral travel) is a paranormal interpretation of an out-of-body experience achieved either awake or via lucid dreaming or deep meditation. The concept of astral projection assumes the existence of another body, separate from the physical body and capable of traveling to non-physical planes of existence. Commonly such planes are called astral, etheric, or spiritual. Astral projection is often experienced as the spirit or astral body leaving the physical body to travel in the spirit world or astral plane.[1] Astral projection is controversial. Skeptics say that there is only anecdotal evidence that anything actually leaves the body.[2]
