    Trimming/manicuring

I am approaching week 8 of flowering this Sunday on my 2 plants. The specified harvest time is 8-9 weeks.
I noticed today that some of the lower buds on the plant aren't getting much light and they look less mature and are a lighter shade of green.

Will trimming the large fan leaves that are blocking the light be detrimental to the plant or would it help since the lower buds can get light. Will the plant be able to support itself with the leaves on the buds?

you could harvest in stages, takes a little longer but sometimes worth it. Otherwise you can take a couple off but not too many, they need those leaves.

You really shouldn't take off fan leaves. Try tying the branches apart so that the canopy opens up a bit and allows light to penetrate, but trimming before harvest- leaves or whole buds- is a cause of stress and you don't want the plant to go herm on ya.

really? I never question what you say as we all know you are the "Sticky Stinky Masta" but I have taken buds off at a time with no issues. I read somewhere where it's ok... or is it one of those "you can-but could cause probs" type of thing?

Only time I remove a fan leaf is when it's pretty dead/dead usually, or weave the stem through the leaf fingers.

Yes, and that's the way to go with it. Healthy fans should stay one, and fans that drop off with the slightest tug are already spent.
