GD wingin' it first time!

What up everyone? I saw the GD recipe and had to give it a shot. Heres my results with some pics.

I used 4.3 grams of high grade shake, I know the recipe calls for buds but this is what I had on hand to try it with so here goes.


i used some no name 151 liquor the was rum but not bacardi,


I blended it up in something like the magic bullet and ended up getting a very fine fine plant matter.


I also used a fine paint brush to scrape all the fine powder in the blender and on the blade of the blender.



I baked @ 200f for 20 minutes then added to 2oz. 151 liquor



I monitored the temperature using a digital thermometer and never got it up all the way to 170F. It stayed between 140 and 155, I turned the stove off when I noticed most of the alcohol was evaporating.





To filter I used the kitchen strainer and spoon then the garlic press, works wonders!
I didn't get quite 1oz. of GD but more like .25oz. My GD came out to be a dark brown red, I know the recipe says brownish-greenish. I think I messed it up somewhere.






i'm going to give it a test run in the morning when im clear headed and havent had anything to eat for a couple hours. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

I think you probably did a pretty good job. Sounds like you followed the instructions very well.

I think the redish brown color is probably from the rum. If you use clear grain alcohol, like Everclear, it's more green. But rum has a brown color to it that gets more concentrated as in boils down.

I have a couple suggestions for next time. It looks like there was still a bit of a "bathtub ring" of sticky brown stuff left in the glass. That may contain a lot of THC. Next time I would suggest washing that down into the cup as you heat it. If there is any sticky residue on the glass, be sure to get it down into the liquid.

It looks like a lot of the liquid boiled away. If that happens, it's ok to add a bit more 151 to keep everything dissolved. I like to capture everything out of the weed, so I usually do a second extraction. After you strain out the first bit of liquid, keep that aside, and put the weed residue back in the cup. Add some more alcohol to the cup. Wash any residue on the cup down into the liquid and maybe heat if for a short peroid of time --- doesn't need to be as long as the first extraction. Then strain out the second batch of liquid and add it to the first one. This captures any THC left in the cup and any left still absorbed in the weed.

How much are you planning to take? Whatever you do, don't drink it all in one shot! I usually try to figure out how many times the weed would have got me high if I just smoked it and then divide the liquid by that amount. It varies depending on the weed and the person, so you need to figure it out on your own. Here's an example: If you think you could get high 16 times on your 4.3 grqms of shake, take 1/16th of the liquid the first time. It can be hard to measure out 1/16th of your 1/4 ounce of GD, so I usually add more liquor to bring up the volume to something I can measure. For example, put your GD in a measuring cup and add enough rum to bring it up to 1 cup. Then 1/16th would be a half ounce, which is something you could easily measure out. Put your half ounce of GD rum in a Coke or something you like and drink it on down! An hour later you should know if you had success or not. If not, have another shot.

Man... very good job taking this pictures! They are very good! Since long ago i was thinking that would be nice to take some good pictures of the process of making g.d., but never came the day to actually do it... and now you did it! :thumbsup:
I would make some suggestions, but Dragonrider already said everything i would say... as great part of our knowledge about g.d. comes from the same place... here!
Anyway, as it seems you were sucessfull at making a very good and strong g.d., there is a thing that must be stressed:

Whatever you do, don't drink it all in one shot!

Hey guys I know I said I was going to try the GD out first thing in the morning but my ass waked and baked and totally forgot, so I decided not to do it.

Later in the day I was thinkin aw screw it and I took two dropper fulls in some juice on an empty stomach. I took it at around 1245 and started feeling it around 130. The feeling I have to say is unique and different not to say that I didn't like it, I liked it a lot.

At first I was feeling the alcohol more than the green, that shet is purified, I could feel it burning in my stomach. But once 130 came around I felt the effects of the green but on an exponential effect. My ass just passed out and I'm just waking up now to let you guys know how it went.

In conclusion the recipe is great and easy to follow, it took some prep and I modified some parts because I didn't exactly what the recipe called for (ie mason jars, I used a glass cup) and the kind of cannabis(recipe called for 1/8 high grade bud, I used 4.2g of purple urkle shake from the clinic) The end product is no damn joke, my end product came out to .25oz. when the recipe says about 1oz end product. thanks again Dragonrider for the tips and pointers, I appreciate it greatly. This recipe is great for anyone trying to save their lungs and medication, its great because you can make it on a somewhat small scale (1/8) and the end result is great because you end up with a decent number of doses to take.

I am going to do more batches and try to achieve consistency then after that I will try to refine the recipe to make something more among the lines of a elixir than a tincture (easier to take down).

my question about making green dragon-
dont you need to let it sit in somewhere dark for a few weeks? this is the only reason i do not want to make green dragon, i am such an impaitent person id just rather smoke it lol

No, the let-it-sit method is not a good method. You can make it in about 2 hours. Look at how he did it in this thread up at the top. Or check out his thread: http://boards.cannabis.com/recipes/8...-combined.html

Cooking it gives better results and takes a fraction of the time.
