Smoking and the inability to urinate
From the Mayo Clinic:
Prostatitis: a disease of the prostate gland. Symptoms: pain in the groin, painful urination, difficulty urinating and related symptoms.
Kidney infection (pyelonephritis): A specific type of urinary tract infection (UTI) that generally begins in your urethra or bladder and travels up into your kidneys. Symptoms: Lower back or groin pain, Abdominal pain, frequent urge to urinate, pain when urinating.
Urinary tract infection: An infection that begins in your urinary system. Your urinary system is composed of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Symptoms: A strong, persistent urge to urinate, A burning sensation when urinating, Passing frequent & small amounts of urine, Blood in the urine (hematuria) or cloudy, strong-smelling urine, Bacteria in the urine (bacteriuria).
Interstitial cystitis â?? also called painful bladder syndrome â?? is a chronic condition characterized by a combination of uncomfortable bladder pressure, bladder pain and sometimes pain in your pelvis, which can range from mild burning or discomfort to severe pain. Symptoms: A persistent, urgent need to urinate, Frequent urination, often of small amounts, throughout the day and night. People with severe interstitial cystitis may urinate as often as 60 times a day. Pain in your pelvis (suprapubic) or between the vagina and anus in women or the scrotum and anus in men (perineal).
Prostate gland enlargement: a common condition as men get older. Also called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatic hypertrophy, prostate gland enlargement can cause bothersome urinary symptoms. Symptoms: Weak urine stream, Difficulty starting urination, Stopping and starting while urinating, Dribbling at the end of urination, Frequent or urgent need to urinate, Increased frequency of urination at night (nocturia), Straining while urinating, Not being able to completely empty the bladder, Blood in the urine (hematuria), Urinary tract infection.
Read about these, I'm willing to bet one of these is the problem. Tell your doctor that it worsens when you smoke. He won't care. Hopefully some of you can shed some light on what has been going on. I will try to explain this as quickly as possible without making it too long. I have been smoking for about 4 years and the last 2 years have been very regularly. (I'm 22) In the last 3 years and actually the vast majority of the time that I have smoked I have smoked out of a bong/bubbler. I was always good about taking breaks until recently Rating: 5
