First time grower - Check list

Ok, so I have either the option to grow in a little closet, or in my attic. Which would be better?

Also, because they use such low amounts of electricity, I was considering starting off with CFL light bulbs. Is this a good route for beginners? Also, what kelvin should I be aiming for?

    Thanks

Yea, CFLs are a good start and before you pick a grow space check it out for currculation and temperature first of all. With an attic [like mine] in the winter it gets mighty cool and in the summer temps can get up to like 90 degrees up there. It would cost to much $ n time for me to go up there so i picked a closet near a window. This way i can get fresh air flow and the temperature keeps a nice room temp [with the added temp of the light giving optimal temperatures around 80]. Oh and check space, if you want nice tall stems, make sure you got the room, remember the plant usually doubles in size during flower.....:hippy:

Overall, is there a difference in quality when a plant is grown with CFL bulbs? How many bulbs will I want for 3-4 plants?

Plants grown under cfls will have fluffier(less dense) buds, generally wont produce as much(went compared to hps), and will take a bit longer to mature(again, when compared to hps).

Can't really say how many lights you'll need, it has a lot to do with your grow space. Refer to the lighting FAQs.
