The information on CO2 enrichment can be found all over the boards.

Your plants do need CO2 for respiration. Yes, they can have too much. If you are trying to supplement the plants with more CO2, that is doable and beneficial and will generally increase yields.

Your plants will only benefit from the extra CO2 if they are in ideal growing conditions, which I believe includes a higher ambient temperature. I believe that 1500ppm of CO2 is the optimum level, but can't say I know for sure.

Ed Rosenthal wrote a response on C02 levels, entitled "C02 late in crop". To sum up the article, plants need 200ppm of C02 before growth comes to a grinding halt. Outdoors and in well ventilated growrooms the ppm is somewhere around 350. He didn't mention how much C02 would be too much, but said that 1500-2000ppm is often used in well-lit gardens. It becomes more difficult to maintain higher levels in rooms that aren't sealed.

I had the liberty of borrowing a C02 system during my last grow. Complete with tank, emitters, timers, and all that jazz. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, and only used it while I was vegging. But the plants showed definitive increases in growth in the short time that I used it before having to return it. My room wasn't completely sealed, and so probably made it less useful than it should have been... but I'll definitely be using it again. When I can scrounge up the money to buy the equipment for myself...

Twitch If you have not been growing for awhile don't waste your time. I have been growing for awhile both hydro and dirt, I used to use co2 but don't even waste my time anymore.

    Hey Twitch ,
In mosta my readings Co2 is used in a completely sealed enviroment .

    ppm of co2 is generally that of the nute mix . nutes = 1200ppm / co2 = 1200ppm - just an example .

Temps can usually be run about 10 degrees hotter w/o adverse effects also using co2 .

Unless all other aspects of your grow are absolutely perfect , enviromental conditions etc... Co2 isn't nesc. I'm no expert , This info is all 2nd hand from years of reading at dif. sites etc... So I'm not swearing by any of it . My grows rock w/o it btw.

Getting Co2 tanks filled all the time is expensive and draws lotsa attn. to yourself , A propane powerd 1 is dangerous in my eyes as a burn survivor . And yes , you can create a toxic situation for you and your plants if theres too much of it .

    Peace
    Crispi

PS . Be careful if u do indeed use blocks of dry ice . It can and will burn the hell out of you in the form of frostbite .

lol when i was a kid i ask my brother how long he could hold a cube for...LMAO
he still has the burn marks 5 years later
what i was trying to go for was to give them a lil extra
i use CFLs temp is around 78 humd 45
i drop a lil in a cup and put it next to one of my ducts 2 hours later u
could tell they were greener.... its could have been the bowel i
    smoked beforehand

what i know about co2 is that apparently it speeds up plant metabolism so you get faster
growth with enough light, and the hotter it gets in your grow room the more co2 your plants
    will utilize.
as well, don't forget co2 is for photosynthesis not respiration so co2 for leaves and o2 for
    roots only
i guess to answer your question it might speed up the process since co2 is combined with h2o
to form sugar which is what the plant uses to grow so more food equals faster growth
kinda like a fat kid on cake addiction (that's cake, not coke)
