    Hello

Hi I have 5 plants right now small but growing, from bagseed. They are outside right now. But I will soon go to the store and get a couple of cfl's. But I am saving up for a 400w fixture for both MH and HPS bulbs. My question is am I right by saying I can use the MH bulb for vegging plants and the HPS for flowering? If this is correct how many plants can I have under these lights and how far do I keep the light from the plants?

    Hello

The 400 MH or HPS has the same footprint. That is if you use a reflector. By that I mean the space it light's up. In this case 5x5 area. That would be for both the bulbs,lamps.... You can use either lamp for veg. They really like the MH,but do well under the HPS. If they are small. I would wait till you get about 4 nodes, then keep the light about 18 to 24 inches from them.
