E&F Hydro Grow Log - 2nd Attempt

Ok folks I think I got it all right this time but my plants don't look as good as some of yours so I hope someone can give me advice.

My nutes are Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow 3-1.5-4 and Botanicare Liquid Karma .1-.1-.5.

PPM's 470
PH 6.1

I know that I need to lower the PH to around 5.5. My question is about PPM's. This is technically the 6th day of ther first week. Initially the PPM's were around 120.

Temp of room fluctuates between 72 and 82.
400w MH about 20" from top of plants.

Well how did they go to 470 from 120 in one week? Weren't you checking things and diluting back to make sure the number didin't get too high?

some of that number might be dust from your hydroton but there's no way to know for sure.

I'd dump that stuff and start over. And you shouldn't let your ppms rise that much between water changes.

You should keep your ph between 5.6-6.2 if you aren't already and check it several times a day.....again if you don't already.

PS.....having said all that....they look pretty healthy and happy all in all to me.

Well what happened was that I never had a meter and the hydro store guy said that I shuld start off with 1/3 nutes. So I put in 1/2 tsp per gallon (5 gallons) of nutes. It wasn't until the weekend that I went out and bought a meter and saw that the nutes were at 120. So I added more nutes to get as close to 600 as possible but I didn't want to go over 470 until I heard from someone on here. The PH was my fault altogther, as I said I didn't have a meter. I can check it 2 times a day now and I am keeping it between 5.5 and 6.2.

Todays starts my 2nd week. I will clean out the res and start a new res. What should my ppm's be?

And thanks for replying, they look ok too me to except those bottom leaves from my initial seeding start.

Are you using tap water? If so I'd probably have about 200 ppms grow nutes, a pinch of LK and whatever numbers your tap water adds up to. Pro Grow is a fairly strong nute imo (i use it) and it pays to go a touch slow with it. What day did you germ them?

Today marks the 2nd week of veg. I germ'd them about 3 weeks ago. I use RO from my water and ice place because the tap around here is too hard. I waited an extra week before I moved them into my hydro rig.

FYI....is 200 ppm's enough. The bottle says 800 and the hydro guy at the store says 600 in the second week.
