Now for something a bit different ... rarely, do I mention much about
myself, but I will today, since it's cannabis related topic and will be
very interesting to many folks:

There was just a stamp auction, this past Saturday Feb-12th, in New York
City, of revenue tax stamps, including 200 various "lots" of U.S. federal
marihuana tax revenue stamps.

Here's an excerpt: "The liveliest interest has been in the marijuana
stamps, which were used starting in 1937 when the Marihuana Tax Act was
passed to control, and, some say, outlaw, the use of cannabis. Only a few
such stamps are known to be in private collectors' hands. The stamps,
which are yellow, blue, green and red, are being sold singly and in
sheets."

The stamps themselves are no longer usable, since the U.S. Supreme Court
ruled the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 unconstitutional, in the case Timothy
Leary v United States in 1969 - that in large part led to the Control
Substance Act in 1970 that placed cannabis in Schedule I

Despite that, the stamps themselves are a neat piece of history. While
some people are aware of various related *state* tax stamps, most folks
are surprised to hear that *federal* marihuana tax stamps even existed;
gets people inquiring and thinking about the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 and
its related history; the drug war in general.

I paid nearly $15,000 USD for the three lots I purchased ... are you still interested?

In regards to the email - the Marihemp Network / CANNABIS.COM Announcement list has existed since around 1999. This message board only existed since last year and thus many folks here were not aware of any such announcement list until they received the email today.

Only about a dozen email announcements are sent out each year - it's very low volume.

The boards are very reliable, but with the nature of the internet, it helps to have multiple ways of keeping in touch with others here - also a great way to remind folks who haven't visited for awhile that the boards are still here; provide updates, etc.
