Students Suspended for ADMISSION of Marijuana Use?

What type of things can happen to a california high school student if they are reported by a teacher to have smoked marijuana in the past? Not at school, do not have it on them, it is simple admission.

My friend's sophomore teacher told him this a few years ago :

"if you do something illegal, and you write or talk about it, i will report it, and be happy to do so."

Now what kind of penalties can be pushed on the student for simple admission to drug use? He told me that it's happened before, but he did not know what happened to him.

I think you should respect those that don't smoke, so I wouldn't take a voluntary approach to it, rather explain why you use it.

nothing will happen, unless your seen smoking it, or have it on you, but from what you said you have that under controll

Unless they catch you blowin' smoke rings I think you'll be alright.
Most of the teachers I know were in the job for the power, my old maths teacher made my friend write an essay for farting...i just thought i'd throw that one out there..

yeah dude if he caught you talking or writing about it he could report it which would essentially influence the campus police to conduct an investigation, I.E search your car, backpack, and locker but as long as your smart and you don't have any illicit drugs on you then your completely fine. Talking about drugs is backed by freedom of speech so they couldn't even file it on your personal record unless they found something on you and if they did file it you could easily say you were writing a hypothetical situation or discussing one.

That's good, I do not ever have any thing on or with me at school, that is just asking for arrest.

Right now I'm writing an essay on "Legalization of Marijuana." Our essay is for a controversial issue project, and it's a well-researched essay that we will have to present in front of the class at the end of it, and I was a bit concerned on what my teacher thinks of me, and I do not want to say anything that could be considered a "admission" because I do not want to be gladly reported to the proper authorities.

This is why I was a bit worried:

We were in the library, taking notes from these opposing viewpoints books. My teacher came over to me and asked what my topic was.
"Marijuana legalization," i said.
"Do you mean for medical purposes or in general?"
"In general, so complete legalization."
"Well that's great. I'm glad you chose a topic you're interested in, so that every day you come in here researching, you can be excited! I'm glad you chose a subject you like."
She began to walk away, and I said to my friend, "WHAT THE HELL?" I was whispering it, but she immediately turned around, and said "I bet this topic is going to freak your parents out a bit, Haha!"

Now seriously.

She knows my parents, she's a family friend because our families both went to church together, and I've known her son since I was a kid. We go way back, so she's cool with me, but she thinks I'm extremely rebellious in my writing and attitude. Not anarchy, but to a point of "do what you want, and i'll do what i want."

I work in education. I strongly suspect that more than one of my teachers are not absolute strangers to "Mary Jane". But things being as they are, we just don't talk about it.

thats funny she said that to you, sounds like she knows you smoke weed, its not a bad thing. But like you said, she knows you and your family and you said you know her son, maybe he told her you toke it:wtf: I had a 50 something year old hispanic spanish teacher in high school who i'de openly talk about smoking weed with, she didnt care, she smokes bannana leaves for some odd reason. Marijuana is still in the same classification of drugs as cocaine and heroin, last i checked in my 19 years alive cocaine and heroin dont suppress illnesses, they do the opposite, MJ helps such a broad spectrum of illnesses its sick that its not legal in all 50 states. Go get em dude

My french oral is about the legalization of cannabis. I had to choose something controversial as well. It would be so easy to out debate them in English, but French can get tricky...
