1,000,000 Iraqis dead since the invasion of 2003

you know i been a liberal tree hugin hippie my entire life. i hate violence and i wish for nothing but peace. but i do understand the fact that we just can not up and leave the middle east. we stirred up the shit and now we have to get it settled back down.

say you and your 3 best freinds were standing around a bucket of shit. you pick up a huge rock and thro it in. shit splashes out out and all over you and your freinds. just up and leaving the middle east now would have the same effect as removing the rock. it may be out but you and your freinds are still covered in shit. the shituation isnt resolved till you get the crap cleaned off.

Very true, didn't god say that? :-) I should say `god`I am kind of agnostic.

However, as einstein said (and is sometimes misunderstood) - God does not play dice with the universe - to me that means something distinctly different than god does not exist (which it may to some of you) - It means God *is* the universe! <end random vaguely related fact>

So are you also saying that more than 70% of the U.S. were happy about the Chinese invasion? If we're going to make a comparison at least let it be apples to apples instead of apples to oranges.

Oh, dear. Perhaps Hillary's appraisal of the US forces was somewhat premature.

I think the religious fanatics that have occupied Iraq after the invasion, and family members of those civilians killed, the ones that are killing our soldiers that are in their country, I might add, don't seem to be too happy with the occupation of their holy land...I think I'd damn well be pissed if china occupied our country..or any one else for that matter, aside from our nation's own forces. I'm not a religious fanatic by any means, but I think if a soldier shot any member of my family I wouldn't be very happy...especially if they were here for oil.

And now, we're re-arming the sunni's, the old henchmen of sadaam hussein..Gee I wonder what they're going to do with all those guns we give them...

It's not our job to police the world..We can't afford it anymore.

So let's just keep sending more young men and women of this country to get killed? Because we were led into a war by lies and deception? Sure, let's go another four years, then they might just settle this thousand year holy war! I think not, there's no definition of winning, it's much too broad, to not leave until things are 'settled' means to stay there forever, and I don't think we have the money or lives for that? Oh wait, a draft...Ahh, yes, we can get all the troops we need into Iraq. Fuck that. Our troops need to be defending our country, not the fucking middle east or the rest of the world.

"All within the past week".....this is the catch phrase. Fact is, insurgent attacks are DOWN!

The January 2008 figure was more than 76 percent lower than the 1,971 civilians killed in January 2007 when Iraq was on the brink of sectarian civil war.
Iraq's civilian toll falls again in January | Reuters

The number of roadside bombs found in Iraq declined dramatically in August and September from earlier this year, and U.S. officials say the discoveries of thousands of ammunition caches might explain the drop.

On Monday, the U.S. command in Baghdad also said rocket and mortar attacks have dropped to their lowest levels in 21 months. The tallies were issued a day after Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said suicide attacks and other bombings in Baghdad also declined.
Roadside bombs in Iraq fall sharply - USATODAY.com

That's always the catch phrase with the left in here.....must be watching FOX. LMAO....even the dems in the debates are stating that the surge has had a VERY positive effect and that violence is down!

Provinces handed over to Iraq forces:

"Within the next 3-4 months is a plausible timeframe for the turnover of Anbar province, but again only if conditions on the ground warrant turnover," Smith said in an e-mailed response to questions from Reuters.
US could hand over Iraq's Anbar in March-April | Reuters

This would make number 10 out of 18. A year ago when the dems were crying for us to run they stated that Al-Quada had total control of this province. How times a are changing.

Hillary and Obamas plan to allow a minimal force to be left to take care of 100,000 coallition civillian workers and Iraqi's that helped up out is a joke!

If you want to see more of the past with our soldiers being kidnapped and beheaded....vote for the Dems in "08". If you want to see the entire middle east turn into a battle ground and the price of gas go to $15/gal. or higher, vote for Ron Paul.

This war is pointless and always has been from the get go. How can anyone who supports this war have any confidence that we will be able to destroy an idea? It's absurd to think we can win this war and destroy an idea that has been in that land for a very long time. The longer we are there the more incentive it gives for every man, child, and woman to pick up a weapon and defend there families. We have destroyed Iraq all over control. We were lied to from the beginning and what makes all of you supporters think we are not being lied to today? We need to get out and get out now. It was a horrible idea to go in and it's even more dangerous to stay.

no we shouldnt stay there forever. i hate the idea of our kids getting killed. and no we are not goin to settle a thousand year holy war. but we cannot just go somewhere and competly destabilize a country then just up and leave. i want nothing more than to see our troops come home. but what is goin to happen if we pull all our troops out tommorow? there is no stable gov't there no stable military. iran is right next door just itching to roll across the border. and if iran were to take iraq that would be a very bad thing indeed. once that happens guess wich way they will head next. isreal perhaps? then once isreal falls we will have no allies in he middle east. saudi will jump on there band wagon as quick as they can. and kuwait, well we had to help them once before so they wont stand a chance. IF this senario was to happen it would economically cripple us. if the irainians controll the oil $100 a barrel is goin to seem like a bargain. now how is that goin to effect the avarage person? well we already know that from gas prices. so whats goin to happen when gas goes to $20 or $30 a gallon. that means the price of everything goes up. i dont like the idea of $10 loaf of bread. that means employers are goin to have topay you more so that means they will have to charge more for their products or services wich now means $15 for a loaf of bread. but lets see we could just send our military back in and take the oil. oh but wait all them vehicles need oil and fuel to run. the gov't does not get that for free they have to buy it to. and they pay the same price as the average consumer in the US. wich means thay will raise taxes. and if we were to go and invade because of all this the arabs are goin to cut off all there oil from us. i wouldnt supply the oil for you to attack me. so now they have efectivaly crippled the most powerful military in the world. now all this has happened lets look at whats goin on in the US. the people are goin to be angry and i could see an uprising. not the entire US is destabilized opening us up for an invasion thatwe will not be able to fend off. yeah we may put up a good fight but shotguns wont go far against a well orgnized and equiped military. wich leave us only one alternative, nuclear war.

i know this may be a far out scenario to many but it is a possibility. and its one that i dont much enjoy the thought of.

i was against this war from the get go. i still am against this war. i want our kids home and safe. i have been protesting the invasion fom the day i heard about it. i knew then it was wrong. but now that we are in this we must leave knowing that iraq is stable. there will never be peace over there but lets just make it so that they can defend themselves. saddam hussein as a brutal dictator but at lest they were not vulnerable with him in charge.

i also totaly agree with you that our troops need to defend us and not everyone else in the world.

Destroy the idea..no; let them set up training camps to work out of...again no! IF we leave Iraq in a mess that'll be exactly the case and we'll be back there in a matter of years because of an attack on us. Dangerous to stay....a hell of alot more dangerous for us to leave.
