Self Lighting
Keeko's right...in order to be able to produce a quarter pound a month, you're going to need a continuous growing system and a lot more light. How many plants you CAN grow depends on lots of things, but one of the most important considerations is light/lumens per square foot. If the light isn't strong enough you're just going to end up with wispy buds and a sad disposition towards growing.
400w systems really aren't going to cause as much of a power spike when they start up as you probably think they will. Sudden dramatic surges in electrical consumption are what often get big-time growers busted, because of how noticeable they are. But most of the time it's perpetual commercial grows using thousands upon thousands of watts of electricity. A single 1000w system isn't going to show a whole lot difference in your consumption, especially if you can get a hold of some of these newer ballasts. Lots of the 400w-1000w digital ballasts use "Soft Start" technology, which cuts down on the large spikes of current needed to fire up the bulb. If you're looking to grow a ton of it, and especially if you are looking to turn it into profit, you've got damn good reasons to be paranoid. Be sensible about it and don't draw attention to yourself...then you've got very little to worry about.
I think you'll be much happier with the results if you're able to get a 400w system, or stronger. Stronger light = denser buds. Good luck, either way. :jointsmile:Mr. Clandestine Reviewed by Mr. Clandestine on . Can I get a ounce a week or even a ounce every two weeks if I setup a SOG grow well.I know I will need a HPS but will just a 150 work? Rating: 5
