Yes there have been.

However, like most drugs whether illegal or by prescription, there isn't extensive testing on the effects of THC on unborn babies. No one really wants to risk testing whether the parents or researchers.

There are a couple though. I know one of the more well known studies was on some pregnant mothers from Jamaica and they might have even been Rastas if I remember correctly. I'm sure you can find it.

Another if I remember correctly, there were no noted changes from the group that smoked during pregnancy and the group that didn't. But there is a big BUT coming.

I know this isn't going to be popular with many people here but whenever evaluating you need to look at the design of the study. The size of the groups was very small, like 13 and 25. You can't conduct a proper study with such a small sample size. I don't know how long they tracked the infants in the study either. You need a study with a sample group in the thousands first of all.

So to me the effects of smoking during pregnancy are still undetermined. Infer want you want form the data but for me it is incomplete and needs further study before one can say with a high degree of certainty that marijuana use during pregnancy is safe.

My cousin probably smoked once a week while she was pregnant but she also smoked cigs for the last 2 months too. The baby is now over a year old and very advanced. Take it for what its worth maybe she was just lucky atleast she didnt smoke when the fetus was developing.

Studies have been done, but not in as broad a range as most other legal drugs.
But in my experience, Me and my 3 brothers were all born to a pothead mom. We have all done very well in school and 3 of us have genius IQ's. one of us is SSI(bi-polar). My wife smoked through both of her pregnancies and our two kids have been discribed as some of the smartest kids people have run into. Take what you want from that info. Fact is, There's no definitive way to determine if any side affect exist.
The only common thread I have seen with all pot babies I've met was a high metabolism.

If you get cotton-mouth, you could also get irregularities in supplying your baby with whatever he needs.

Im just wondering because we told the nurses about her use and how often and never again mentioned anything else about it while the cigs led to a 5 minute lecture. I think your right though about a wider based test. I guess if the doc doesnt say anything maybe neither should I. But I will encourage some cutting back. Thanks again for your time!:jointsmile:

He's right. Since there isn't much evidence either way, is it worth the risk to your baby so you can get high?
