Grav Bongs = Bad?

I've come to the conclusion that gravs are shitty. Sure, they get you super blazed but seriously...

First of all, gravs take away from the days of social smoking. Up here at college gravs are probably the most popular way of smoking. I know I'd much rather pass around a bowl, bong, joint, blunt or anything else because you get to have the good conversation around the bud. Whereas with a grav, people sit around, wait their turn, get an ungodly amount of smoke, and then are too retarded to talk. This is the worst thing about them.

Second, I think they are just too much for the body/mind to handle. If you pay enough attention like I have, you'll notice people's speech, movement, and lots of other stuff gets messed up after a grav to the point where you look stupid as shit in public. In the long haul, they also dumb you down when you're not even high, make you a lot lazier, etc.... I also have a feeling they are horrible for your health and no one has looked into it yet. Gravs are still pretty much an underground thing (ever heard one in a song, seen one in a movie?) so they probably haven't been researched but all that smoke at once plus the possibility of fumes coming off the metal piece at the top can't be good. I'm really curious what people would find if they studied the effects of gravs on the body and mind.

Third, if you're someone trying to boost the rep of weed, gravs look terrible to someone who hasn't/doesn't smoke. Seriously, think of how ILLEGAL a grav looks, like some kind of crack pipe or something to the uninformed person. This brown bottle sitting in smelly water with a burnt metal socket sticking out of the top... a nice colorful piece or a joint looks much more respectable and inviting.

That said, if you're about to walk into a movie or something where no social skills are needed and you want to be high for hours, a grav or 5 is cool with me. Just not as a main way to smoke. Should be more of an accessory.

What do yall think about this, anyone ever thought of these things?

It's much more than a glorified water bong... The water in a water bong filters out the smoke and then you pull the slide to get a nice hit then some fresh air.

The water in a GB is simply there to force the smoke into your lungs. That's another thing, you don't even get any air with your smoke... it's just smoke, smoke, then a brick wall of water, then you blow out.

i love gravitys........i did start to get paranoid that i was inhaling plastic every time tho casue i was using a waterbottle with a pretty small neck so the flame got close to the plastic each time...havent used it in a while haha.

i personally wont use a grav recreationally...ever, the only time i will is if its someone elses weed, and that is the method being used, but when it comes to smoking i perfer a nice tight bowl from either my pipe, or my bong, or whatever implement being used. Ive seen the gravity bong in my local headshop, and the reason why i think that most peoples look so horrible is that the ones in the head shop are tiny, and the reason people smoke gravs is because they want monster hits. Plus buying a grav from a headshop is completely obvious what your buying it for, think about it, who would smoke tobbacco out of a grav? its pointless, but weed, will get you high as fuck. but thats about all my knowledge of them.

And to make a nice looking grav its not too tough. First get a nice looking bowl from your headshop, get the kind for a bong, and get a bottle of sorts, plastic bottles work the best. then take a nail and head it and push it through the cap of the bottle to make a decent sized hole, then head the stem piece of the bowl and push it through the hole, this make the bowl unusable from then on out, take the bottle and cut the bottom of it off, and then get a pitcher, like the ones for ice-t, and fill it with water, then grav away! And the Straighter your lines and the more care you put into your piece the better it will look, and you can even paint it if you want something that looks cooler.

I love gravity bongs, and don't think I'll ever give up on them. First of all, I wouldn't really bust out a gravity in a party situation. Mainly because it's just a pain in the ass to keep having to pack it up every time somebody wants to hit it, and then go through the process of milking it. This can be really annoying if you're dealing with more than a couple of stoners. In my opinion, the gravity is the perfect way to get completely ripped when you're just kicking it alone, or maybe with one other person. It is also top fucking notch when it comes to conserving herb. Nothing gets me higher off of .1 or .2 grams than a good gravity. As far as it looking illegal... Well, I guess it is illegal. If you're trying to turn on a non-smoker to weed, the last thing you need to bust out is a gravity bong. That'd be brutal on a newbie. :rastasmoke:

i havent burned a grav in a while. There too much of a pain in the ass to deal with. The only good time to smoke one is in a pool.
