I know it's been a few weeks, but I just read this.

Anyhow sounds like he has sleep apnea - one of my family members has it. He snores like a freight train (I can hear him 4 rooms away), and stops breathing throughout the night.

The only 'cure' for this is getting him to go to a sleep clinic, getting properly diagnosed with it, and getting a nighttime breathing machine (can't remember what they're called ?). It's a little tube you put in your nose that's connected to the machine, it basically forces you to continue breathing all night long by blowing air in through your nose.

The guy I work with has sleep apnea, he said since he's gotten the machine, his wife doesn't wear earplugs at all anymore. He had originally purchased custom made earmolds for her (musicians earmolds) to block out the sound of him snoring. He also said he has a lot more energy, doesn't fall asleep anymore throughout the day (he used to take naps during the day here, whenever we had a free 20 minute break without patients), and just feels a lot better overall.
