what should I look for in a bowl
Hey guys I'm about to purchase another bowl. I want one that looks good and can hit well. Do different bowls hit differently? If so then what should I look for? Because I want a bowl that can get me baked

what should I look for in a bowl
Im the kinda guy, who will ask where the bowl is. Stand up- And it was in my lap, now on the ground. So I look for a nice Tough, Thick bowl. I do like one that looks good and has a Carb or Shotgun.
If I wana get baked I personally use my SteamRoller
( http://www.superpiece.com/photos/steamrollerhpsr1.jpg )
I got one mayby 7-8 inches long and 1-2 inch around. And that thing HITS like a mother fucker. Steam's also arent tooo incredably expensive.
If you got $$$ go with a bong. But that always requires lots of carefullness and water and somtimes a mess.

there are several factors to consider.
One obviously enough for most is look, what do you want it too look like, you want to find something that you like, not your friends, though if you come to agreeance on some pieces its always a plus, especially when you smoke with them a lot.
2 is price, find your price range, there is no need to find a piece if you cannot afford it.
third-type, there are several types of bowls, think about what you want, carb/no carb, deep bowl/shallow bowl, long/short, and size of your holes at the mouth and the carb
four, material, glass? metal? acrylic? combinations? its up to you to decide what type of materials will fit your needs. Glass looks prettiest, but is fragile. Metal is sturdy, but heavy, and many people find that they have a "taste" one which i personally enjoy, plastic, and stone is heavy and not too fragile, though they can chip, and plastic is plasticy. Pick one or several.
tip-if you have hair that is in your face/on your face, make sure you get a piece that is long enough that you wont burn your hair when you smoke out of it, ive lost a few moustache hairs too a bic once or twice.when you learn to walk on the planes of existence, you can learn to run on the planet of earth
au revoir

what should I look for in a bowl
IMHO-
**Bong - Top notch smoothness, no harsh throat afterwards. gets you the most baked...
**Bowl - Perfect for on the road or at work/school..(has to be thick glass). a tad more harsh than a bong
**Bubbler - too much trouble than its worth... tips over too easily, and i find its hard to take monster bong-like rips without charring my throat
**steam roller - ugh.... the harshest of the harsh..you cant puff it like a bowl...instead you have to revert to inhaling a fat ball of smoke strait down to your throat...
**VOLCANO - Pure ecstasy!!!! clear non sleepy yet still stoney high... no harshness (no smoke either) the cream of the crop IMO

I like a bowl that is easy to clean, made of thick, durable glass, and has a rather long stem to allow the smoke to cool off a bit.
The cleaning part is important to me.
If you are feeling warm and fuzzy, look for a piece made by a local artisan. They are often comparable in price, since there is no cost of shipping from Pakistan and only one intermediate vendor- the actual shop, rather than a wholesaler- so you are getting a quality piece AND helping the local economy! :hippy:

smokedoja may of made it sound a lil TOO harsh. But in a way I agree. But its really not that bad. If you get some nice smooth good weed its just fine. As he said you cant puff it. But its just a huge hit in one fell-swoop one after the other. Which is why I get really stoned. Also the steamroller is super easy to clean. There are no 'Bowl' parts for resin to get stuck in where you can't reach.
Hope that helped a lil more.

Bowl size is also important. Large/medium/small...... Obviously, starting on the lowest end of size, you have your one-hitters. You can get those for really cheap, but the downside is that it's made (as it's name implies) for taking one single hit at a time.
Normal pipes start with bowls that can be packed with about .2-.4 grams at a time. This size is great for personal use, though you can obviously get a bigger one and just fill it partway. Not too bad for use in groups, but I find it needs to be refilled after five-six hits, depending on who is taking the hit.
Then, of course, you have bowls that can pack anywhere up to a gram at a time, some possibly bigger. These are great if you smoke with others a lot, as you don't have to refill every ten seconds.
A bowl size that's too big/small for your consumption needs can be aggravating. Either you have to put more in there than you want to smoke, risk it falling through to the bottom of the pipe if you don't put enough in, or if it's too small, you have to refill it a few times to get high. My pipe at the moment can pack in about .35 grams, which I find is a good size if it's just me or me and my roommate smoking.
Carb/no carb? Well, a carb is the little hole you hold your thumb over when smoking out of most pipes. When it's covered and you're sucking in air, all the air hitting the burning pot is coming from up above and tehn being sucked into the pipe stem. This makes it cherry very nicely and keeps it burning. You release the carb to flood the pipe stem with fresh air, which allows you to clear all the smoke out of the pipe and put it where it belongs: in your airways! :-) Carbs are great; personally I prefer them, as they cool the smoke by hitting it with fresh, cool air, and you don't have to worry so much about accidentally getting a mouthful of ash.
Also, another thing to look at is stem length. The longer the length, the better chance the smoke will cool a bit before it hits your lungs. The cooler it is, the more you can inhale at a time/longer you can keep it in without coughing. Also, the bigger the stem, the bigger hits you can take since there's more places for smoke to fill before you clear it.
After all of that, comes color and looks and all that jazz. Those preferences are totally up to you, but honestly don't get a piece whose look you hate simply because it fits the bill for everything else. Get something you know it will be a joy to get high out of.Keeping it saucy!
