Mystery indica hempy buckets grow
wow thouse look great. but whats a hempy bucket?
hydrocannabis Reviewed by hydrocannabis on . Mystery indica hempy buckets grow had some seeds laying around, and decided i would try out the hempy buckets. my plan is to keep the pH 6.2 every watering, and hopefully not even think about these plants at all. There's 6 indica seedlings, about 10 days old, all started in a mini 1 gallon bubbler bucket I'm not even kidding, they already smell. i havent seen a plant have a disctinct MJ scent so young (but then again IM young) Anyways, built a little home for them, lined it with mylar, and stuck some flourescent Rating: 5

hempy buckets are a very easy passive hydroponic method. I'ts roughly 3/4 perlite and 1/4 vermiculite. I drilled a hole about 2 inches above the bottom of the bucket on the side, creating a water table. water at pH 6.2 until it drains out of the hole, do this every 2 days or so, and that's it. you can just forget about it. no pH checking (besides when you water) and no ppm checking (besides when you water). Give it full strength nutrients every watering. (of course introduce at 1/4 strength, then 1/2 for a bit first) but then every watering full strength. Why it doesn't burn? who knows. Why it doesn't get root rot? who knows. but it works well, do a search on hempy buckets. It's better than soil, no comparison, but a fine tuned oldschool ponics system will beat hempy buckets. however, with the hempy's you don't have to worry or think about anything at all, just watch them grow.

still 700 ppm, added superthrive this time in addition to peter's and cal-mag
also did some training
got my reflector, so i moved them from their nest down to a table until i flower them. figure i'll flower in 10 days.
do i need to wait until they show all show their sex before i can start 12/12?

I love you.
I have been so fucking upset over my grow lately, I abandoned the thread I had on here, and was thinking of tossing the grow because I just couldn't keep my damn temps down and so many other problems.
This thread is an inspiration. I too am a hempy bucket grower with temps often hitting 90!
I am definitely subscribing to this.
What do you use to lower your water ph (I have heard ph down from fish/pet stores is bad so I do not know where to find any as there is no hydro shop and I won't buy over net)
And what kind of Ph meter do you use?
My girls are about the same age.

I love you too! I use general hydroponic ph-down, the dry kind not the liquid. Why won't you purchase at hydro shops online? I've purchased tons of stuff from hydrowarehouse, and greentree's hydroponics, good prices and pretty fast. I would be just as worried if not more purchasing in person than online, (your dealing with a company that sells stuff online to pot growers all day, not people eyeing you in their store to see if you grow pot or not and then have people follow you home) so i would be less worried.

One liquid tester *should* last you throughout your grow, unless you check your pH every 2 seconds like I do, then you might need a couple.
I'm not dealing with the 90's temps anymore. I took them out of their "nest" (up near the ceiling, grow box lined with mylar) and just put them on a table now that i have a reflector for the 150w fluorescent. They don't have the reflectivity they had in their nest, but hopefully the batwing reflector plus the coolor temps will make up for the fact they aren't contained in a reflective box of light.
Here's a shot of the group, looking much more "dialed in" now

Cool cool bro.
I have not been able to see all your pics yet, hopefully will have faster net soon.
I have ascertained Ph Up and Down.
What type and how much lighting are you using? Congrats on the new nest and lower temps... what are they now?
Out of curiosity, did you see much growth at 90 degrees?
Good luck, wonderful thread and grow... keep us updated.

So basically, as hot as you can get it without the plants wilting and being heat stressed is the best temperature I would have to believe. If you have a mutant plant that can handle 110 degrees and thrive in it, i'm sure it would grow much faster than in 75 degrees. But no plant can take that much heat!
I'm using a 150w ecoplus fluorescent as the main light in the batwing reflector (10,000 lumens just one fluorescent!) I also have a 4" shoplight (probably about 5000-6000 lumens), and 3 26w CFLs (1700 lumens a piece). So i have about 20,000 lumens for 6 plants, in a 1.5' wide by 3' long grow area. When they flower they will have much more light since it they will be moved into my flowering chamber

nice man. can see the pics now, very cool stuff.
I shore wish plants could handle them high temps. Pretty shore photosynthesis and gas exchange in the leaves almost halts above 90 F. O well, my AC is on the way.
What type of soil is mixed with your perlite?
What type of flowering chamber do you have, CFLs still or switch to HID?
How is your new grow area set up, you said no more contained box.
Hope everything stays peachy for ya bro. O by the way, do you know what type of indy girls you have?

I feel very paranoid right now. :wtf:
they will have hps lighting in flowering in addition to the fluorescent lighting they have right now. minus 2 CFLs to keep a mother plant.
i think 75F is what you should aim for as far as temperatures actually.

I am a hempy grower...
A "hempy bucket" is just drilling a hole 1-2 inches from the bottom of the bucket to create a mini reservoir, yeah?
One could feasibly use any medium, perlite, vermiculite, soil, coco fiber, crushed rock wool, worm castings, etc or a mixture of some of those
My next grow is going to be 50/50 perlite and Fox Farm Ocean Forest I think.
See, I am no po.
The HPS sounds nifty. I am just going CFLs I think, but yea 75 F is where I am going to keep temps as well.
good luck and keep us updated bro
peace
