    First indoor grow with soil.

Hi i'm new around here and starting up a small indoor grow for myself.

I plan on using soil, I want to know what kind of nutrients are good for a indoor soil grow for the beginning growth stages and how to apply them.

Also what is economical when it comes to growlights.

    i'm on a tight budget.

    Welcome!

Nutrients are most likely not necessary in the first few weeks.

However, I always include H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) at 2 or so teaspoons per gallon and Superthrive at whatever the directions say, a few drops per cup of water every time I water any of my plants, seedlings, mature plants, etc.(Superthrive is not a fertilizer, more like anti-stress hormones says the package, can be found at Wal-Mart)

After a month or so, if you like, you could begin a 1/4 - 1/2 strength (of what the package recommends) fertilizing program. Use the 1/4 -1/2 strength mixture with every other or every third watering. Not every watering!

Since you will still prolly be in the veg phase after a month, use a fertilizer high in N (you will see N-P-K ration on box) Miracle grow is disliked by some, but other have great results as long as they do not overdo it. The All-purpose miracle grow now comes in an organic form, and is very cheap and high in N.

When you get into the flower phase, use a fertilizer high in P. I use a fertilizer that is like 4-60-7 for flowering

CFL's are prolly a good choice for your cheap lighting needs. In the hardware section at Wal-Mart, you can find hanging work lights (I am not talking about fluro shop lights, but those work as well) and reflector lights with clamps for $5 apiece or so. Then buy a bunch of light splitters (Y adapters)

Then buy a bunch of 26 watt (package says 100 watt equivalent in top right corner) Daylight CFL bulbs. They come in a light blue package usually, 2 per pack and are more expensive than the regular, yellow CFL's you will be switching to when you begin flowering.

If you can only afford or can only find 1 type of bulb for the whole grow, go with the regular yellows, as plants will still veg just fine under them, but perhaps slower. It would prolly be harder to flower a plant under daylights... plus they are more $

Good luck, keep us updated, and peace!

This is really helpful information, thanks so much!

I got my first grow going right now. Where could I post pictures? Can I start a new thread, or is that just cluttering up the forums? I don't want to annoy people if this is not ok. But I'd like to post pictures and get people's input.

Thanks. After speaking with a few other people, realized that I can't post pictures until I get 50 posts. I'm workin' on it, then I'll put up what I've got
