Well... if you can get pure acetone, i think its the best choice. THC is more soluble in acetone than in isopropyl alcohol, so the extraction by acetone is more efficient. Also, acetone has a lower boiling point than isopropyl alcohol, so it lefts less residues of it in the hash oil when you evaporate it, and the final product is purer, as it has less solvent in it.
But if the acetone were not pure, i think it depends on the purity of it, and what are the impurities. Here in Brasil the acetone i get is 50% acetone 50% ethanol. It isnt as good as pure acetone, but i make my hash oil with it and it works very well.
I also dont like ethanol in any form, but if i had to choose between smoke hash oil with a bit of ethanol and hash oil with a bit of isopropyl alcohol, i would choose ethanol... even if i dislike it, its less harmful to the health.
Anyway, good luck, and if you had any other questions, just ask!
Coelho Reviewed by Coelho on . Honey Oil/hash oil Question Hello I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience to aid me. After reading that ethanol is a inferior solvent to extract THC CBV etc.. from cannabis matter as compared to methanol, isopropyl alcohol, and acetone I'm left wondering if solvent A (not less than) 99.99% anhydrous isopropyl alcohol or solvent B acetone would result with the "cleanest" oil/hash remaining. I realize doing it this way will not give me a pure product but after being so pleased using 100 proof vodka for a Rating: 5
