You've never heard of the Patriot Act? And law enforcements can now "legally" listen to everyone's phone calls as they wish and you cannot interfere.

Anyone can listen to your phone calls, it's called a scanner. No it doesn't scare me a bit. You can also do this with a cordless phone by unplugging the base and powering on the handset.

Yeah, I love this one, yes Iraq, and my relatives that live there today, are better off! It's not perfect there, but it's alot different now that the people there do have hope, and can live more freely than they ever have. Again that is a great example of a country where if you voiced any dissenting political opinion you, and your family could pay the ultimate price as many did. And yes, the world is better off, but I am sure that if you had it your way, Sadam would still be in power correct?

As for corporate dominance, I suggest you really examine how advertising and commercialism has affected popular self-esteem. Food, alcohol, cigarettes, cars, sex, sports, and sensationalism. When these subjects bombard our lives, we tend to become accustomed to it.

If you let those things affect you then too bad, they don't affect me. And I am fairly certian, that you will see these things in most modern countries. I don't believe these are uniquely American, maybe in the 60's, but not today. Been to Japan lately?

Last I checked, the government of this country doesn't force anyone to eat McDonald's every meal. I could be wrong though.:thumbsup: I also didn't realize the goverment was responsible for eating disorders, thanks for clearing that up. So in under developed 3rd world countries at least they don't have to worry about self image problems since they are sucking sand and eating rocks and don't have access to cable t.v.!:thumbsup:

You're not providing me with any valuable information about why America is the "greatest" civilization in the world. A few relief programs does not match up at all. .

Believe me, I don't need to convince you, hopefully you will move to one of the 100s of other countries that you believe is better than ours, guess the grass looks greener on the other side huh?
