What happened to the good smell of weed?

I've been saying for years that the best outdoor grown, often imported, weed was the most enjoyable. The above mentioned Thai sticks, and Columbian are perfect examples of fine marijuana. There are many, many more including types from Mexico, Panama, and other parts of the world that most people under 40 have not experienced. The word "strain" was not used.

Many of the overbred, artificially grown indoor varieties also seem to cause other problems, such as paranoia, depression and physical symptoms. Threads adressing these problems have become a regular feature on this website.

I wonder if the recent discussions on this board about marijuana "addiction" would even be taking place if these types of marijuana were not so popular.

These opinions do anger some of the growers that are producing the contemporary mj "strains", but the consumers have a right to be heard.

No,Weed was a whole different smoking experience "Back In the Day" Sativa was what one found, not these weird cross-breed strains that we have today...From Wikipedia...

"Panama Red, Panamanian Red,[1] or P.R.[2] is a cultivar of cannabis sativa, popular among cannabis afficiandos of the 1960s and 1970s, and renowned for its potency.[3][4][5] The typically high THC levels associated with the variety are thought to be dependent on the cultivar, rather than the Panamanian climate.[6][7] In a limited test, an Auburn University researcher reported that "seed of a sample of Panama Red, grown in the very different climates of the Canal Zone, campus and northern New Hampshire, yielded marijuana with similar THC content."[7] Its name comes from its cultivation in the country of Panama, and its claylike red color.[8] Production was common in Panama's sparsely-populated Pearl Islands.[9] It is known for causing a racy, paranoia-inducing, psychedelic high. Cannabis culture died off in Panama with the rise of cocaine trafficking.

As well as Columbia,Boliva,Peru and most of South America!

And this is why we can't find those GOOD South American Sativa Strains anymore!!!!

What happened to the good smell of weed?

well for me I only take hits from my HG buds.

what I do is: First I let my children grow up and then blossom. then I cut down after 12 weeks. then dry and cure my children.

then I smoke my children. and they usually tast like a fruity sativa and get me wiped for hours.

short story: me on my own stuff:S5: my buddy can't :joint1: handel my stuff.
and he says that I have a good :greenthumb: and says I say the funnest sheet and we laugh for hours :S2: then we :eat:
then play tag UR it:icon506: then I turn on the white stripes and we shake it :rastabanna: then hit the hey and wake up the next day.

I like the smell of me fruity marryjane.

but this time I got a sativa and an indica to finish.
    not just a sativa.

    Ummmm yeah.

While I can appreciate skunk piss, and can see how Chanel #5 could be a caustic smell, I am a big fan of what I like to call "fruit salad" weed.

It's more about the high than the smell anyway; am I wrong?

I have actually smoked some quite mediocre weed and gotten more stoned then off some stuff that smells Better.

I think that now days people are to much into the analysis, smell and all the material stuff when weed is made to get you stoned and that's it.

I remember when pot was all colors and green was usually home grown w/no buds . Pot had a wonderful range of odors and buds would stick to your fingers. Damn spider you got me thinking of red or gold they were beautiful to look at smell and smoke. Grade A on all accounts.
