Here are some pictures and a small video showing the tub aerated with wally-world airstones. Even with the molasses and other organic additives, the bubbles are still clean and clear, and the reservoir is clean and gunk-free.

I'm a terrible photographer who got a new digital for Christmas. Since I have little idea what I'm doing, I take about 2-300 pictures each time I go over to his house. Out of these 2-300, I get maybe 30 good pics and I post different ones in different lighting so everyone can get their fill.

The tub in the pictures/video is using the 18" airstones from the big W-mart. It's on an Eco-Air four-outlet pump, with two outlets for each of the two tubs. The diffusers worked really well in the vegetative bubblers but when it came to the thicker, more concentrated flowering nutrients, they were too restricted. The cheap airstones work well, but will disintegrate, so we need to order some of the ceramic micro-pores to replace them with.

    ----------

I can't post this in pictures, so I'll throw them in here. Check out these pics of a buddy's recent crop. He harvested early for appearance, but the buds still have a nice, sedate factor. Urea with pine for smell, and also for the taste on inhale and exhale. It was perfectly dried, almost perfectly cured (could have used another week), and de-freakin'-licious.

I think I'd be quite happy with those buds......week away from perfection or not. They have quite a lovely crystal coating on them that looks....well....RICH for lack of a better term

So I went and looked up the bendable bubble wands.....then went back and looked up the ceramic micro-pores so that I could have some basic idea of what was going on. I love Google.

In thinking now it was not smart of me to equate a fishtank and oxygenating the water as the same thing as getting air to the plants roots. I now PONTIFICATE  that the more diffused bubbles you can get going in there absolutely the better for your plants.

    Thoughts.?

    Day 24 (01/30/2008)

The molasses that was added a few days ago has 'gunkified' everything. I pulled the lid with plants off of the reservoir and noticed it was markedly heavier than usual, so I looked down and saw the roots were encased in clear goo.

I changed out the reservoir and put back everything but molasses, with extra Sweet to make up for it. The roots were rinsed to remove most of the goo, and put back in the system. I added some H2O2 today to help with the goo, but unfortunately I forgot that I had already added Liquid Karma... so I killed off a lot of the beneficial microorganisms... sigh

At least they still look pretty.

gainseville I use H202 and LK together....I never remember hearing talk about not using them together and have never had a problem. Now the zyme products and H202.....different story.

Looking very sativa there....long, fine leaves and nice color.

I tried molasses in my system once......the result was a FREAKIN' HORROR and I've never done it since.

I was reading on their website that the two shouldn't be used together because of the microorganisms in the the LK. It still has plenty of other good stuff, so it's all good.

The leaves look very sativa at the top, but once they've grown a few days, they fatten up into a wide indica. I'll photograph some of the larger ones next time.

I'm still determined to try it, but I'll experiment a day or two before a reservoir change so I don't have any extra effort if it happens again. I tried a full 15ml (tablespoon) of molasses for every gallon. Next time, I'll try 5ml per and see how it goes. I really want to give the Sweet/molasses combination every chance to wow me.
