The only problem with that distance with LEDs is the blues and res don't blend very that close. We have three Procyons 24" above ours. Still seedlings though. They'll be about a foot closer during veg depending on stretch.

Glad to see some more LED believers. I've also seen in two other led grows where they claim higher potency levels, and isn't that what we(smokers) all truly want.:smokin:

edit: but the bulbs might be packed tighter in the screw in models. so what do I know... lol

"HIGH TIMES reviewed the ufo (90w) vs. a 400w hps lamp, and found that the ufo yielded more bud, healthier plants, and even a slight increase in resin levels and saving that 310w will actually pay off the ufos addiditonal cost (300-400$ more than most 400w rigs) over the course of a year, or just slightly more." -hybridlove420

Can you find a link to this?!? That is completely unbelievable to me. L.E.D.'s have an aplication, just not growing. Also, the ratings some manufatures give on their "super-high output" L.E.D.'s are almost lies. I looked around a bit and found a prototype white LED supposedly achieving 150 (Lm/W). The rating they gave it was VERY misleading. You might notice that it was rated using Lumen's per watt of light output, not per watt of electrical input. It was emitting 420 Lumen's at 8-watts. Witch is 52.5 (Lm/W) by my math. :wtf: They are trying to show some advancement, maybe to get some government funding?? Like wind and solar maybe???

Here are some Lumen's per Watt of common bulbs:
    Candle : ~.3 (Lm/W)
    Incandescent : 20~24 (Lm/W)
    Halogen : 30~36 (Lm/W)
    L.E.D.'s : 26-70 (Lm/W) The high of 70 is for prototype white L.E.D.'s
    CFL's : 45-105 (Lm/W)
Sulfur Plasma : ~100 (Lm/W) light output VERY close to sunlight, better than any other artificial light source.
    Metal halide : 80~125 (Lm/W)
    High pressure sodium lamps : 140-160 (Lm/W)
    Low pressure sodium lamps : 180-200 (Lm/W)"

Make up your own mind on them with this info. :greenthumb:

Thats old news I see once in a while, where do you guys have this from?

Cool White Luxeon Rebels have 100lm at 350mA, 3.15V thats roughly a Watt.

Cree is the same, min. 100lm/W

    No prototypes, available to order.

Norcal that article was in the newest issue of hightimes i'm sure its on their site or the store shelf.

as far as lumens go were getting an even 4000-5000lm in the correct spectrum across our room at 16" up and performing wonderfully.

Blumen are you looking for individ. LEDs or a lamp?
