    New EC/TDS Meter, good deal?

Well, it's actually used, but new to me Anyways I picked up a NZ Hydroponics International "Quick-Dip" EC/TDS meter (Basically the Bluelab Truncheon, before they changed their name). I got it off my hydro guy today for $75, he said he just had the probe replaced, etc. Works perfectly fine, so what do you guys think? Is $75 for an older Truncheon a good deal?

Sounds great to me. A little under half price of new. I love mine, except for I'm not sure it's calibrated right. I need to get a different bottle of calibration fluid and try again before I know for sure.

Thanks Opie, good to know. I just got done changing my nutes and it seems to work perfectly, and it's so simple, I already love it!

Seems a little expensive for an EC pen. An EC pen should cost around $40 new. EC is VERY simple circuitry. PH is generally more expensive.

woah, my mistake. It's their PH pen I was thinking of the cost on. Their EC meter is like $130 new, but you still got a decent deal I would say. And the good EC pens are more than $40. You get what you pay for, usually.

I'll second that: "you get what you pay for".

I love to say you get what you pay for. But not really in EC pens. First the circuitry is so super simple. But second I challenge any pen on the market to outperform TM Digital. They are the only pen calibrated on 3 simultaneous curves.

i know that get what u pay for is defently a true statement, but at the current time i have spend a lot of money on all of my materials and was wondering if for my first grow i could get by with a cheep one? i know that a 20 dollar one on ebay will most likely give me the "you get what you pay for" but i have come to see that I most likely can't survive without one from more forums iv been though

the links NEW Digital Conductivity EC Meter Hydroponics Nutrient - eBay (item 230219809472 end time Feb-11-08 20:00:00 PST)

has anyone tried this? it looks cheep and is cheep, but i don't really have $80+ right now... would this be a better option than changing my water ever 7-10 days?

Look up the pen I said. HM Digital. Set it for ec 442 scale.
