Last summer I began to suffer from serious Anxiety, starting right around Memorial Day weekend. I woke up one morning and noticed I was having trouble breathing, it wasn't as easy as it should be. So naturally I became worried, the problem was, I had to wait till the following Tuesday because there were no doctors open on Memorial Day obviously. So that Tuesday morning I went to a local cheap health service in town. They conducted several tests, including breath/lung capacity, X-rays of my lungs, and certain exercises, but nothing was found to be wrong with me.

I was informed that Anxiety can interfere with your steady breathing because when you're feeling anxious, your heart rate is elevated to a level you're not used to, think 'fight or flight' type situation. So they prescribed me some anti-anxiety medication. I took the dose, it was very small, as those drugs are easily addictive.

The reason I had to go to the cheap health service in town was because we had just got a new family doctor and I hadn't seen him yet so when I called to make an appointment, they wouldn't schedule me one because I hadn't had a chance to complete a physical and all that. Well I told my father and he called the family doctor up and completely bitched the office out.

So I went to this cheap health service, came out with a prescription for anti-anxiety meds. Later that afternoon I was able to see my family doctor. After the doctor conducted the usual tests, including the same ones I had done that morniing, he concluded that there was a chance I had a Pulmonary Embolism. So, because it was cheaper, I went to the E.R. to get the tests done. After waiting 45 minutes in the E.R. waiting room, I was admitted to a room, where a nurse proceeded to poke me a total of 4 times with a needle because he could not find my veins. After 3 and a half hours of waiting in this room with 4 needle holes in my arms, the Doctor returned with no problems wrong with me physically.

Basically, I saw 3 different doctors and all 3 told me it was Anxiety that was causing my breathing problems. Ever since that event, I hadn't been able to smoke pot, and enjoy the high. My heart rate elevates, I feel like my throat swells up and I feel anxious, whereas before, none of that happened. I still get high here and there, but I NEVER get stoned because it's just way too uncomfortable for me. I haven't taken a bong rip since May of 07'.

Long story, I know. Anyways, the anxiety has slowly subsided, it's still there, just not as severe. I workout a lot which tends to help suppress it. Anyways, that's my whole story.
I had the same problem, turns out i was inhaling too much smoke. I was getting heart palpitations and chest pain. Also what felt like breathing obstruction every time i smoked. So I went out and got a vaporizer and gave my lungs a rest from the constant flow of smoke. I toke the vape more often then smoke because it does not make me feel the chest pain/palpitations and breathlessness I felt before. Hope this helps. Mr C.Dub
