    Need some info (cancer-related)

    Hello All...

Thanks in advance for responding and reading.

I am usually found in the growing section however a new situation has arised. I am far from a doctor and don't really know all that much about Cancer and its effects to the body. As well there seems to be so much different information on the Net I don't know what to trust.

So hears the Deal. My Mom had breast Cancer 13 years ago. She had her breast removed and over 20 Lypnodes from under her arm area. (not sure if thats correct spelling) regardless she has yet to have any more tumors. She opt'd for no radiation treatment. She lucked out,, 13 yrs strong with nothing else. I was only about 10 yrs old when that happened. So I was kept behind closed doors.

Now her sister has discovered breast cancer. (I assume this is heritery I did read that on the net) So they removed a tumor. However they said they found it in the Lympnodes as well. So she has to have Radiation and Chemotherapy. She was told she will lose all her Hair. (I feel terrible I mean mad and frustrated all at the same time.)

So I wanted to ask some questions here As I feel its not my place to ask My Aunt or My Mother. I mean my mom is having flash backs of her Surgery and emotions are running so high right now. My mother is questioning if she should have had radiation and if she made the right choices 13 years ago.

So first is what are the chances of still liiving with breast cancer? Or time peroids I guess. thats not somthing I really want to ask my family at this time... I mean the only experience I have close with somone who had radiation/chemothearapy was my grandmother and she lived 3 months after I saw her hair go. She had lung cancer. So does that make a difference, Does the chemothearapy do more harm than good?

And the other thing is Should I be getting a bag of weed ready for her? Just incase she wants to try it? I mean she forsure has never smoked pot but would a circumstance like this make someone who has never smoked want to start for pain relief?

Can anyone think of how I might bring this up in the next couple months? I know My mother had thought of trying it at some time in her life but would have no means of getting any. So i could atleast help with that.

Basically I'm frustrated upset and would love to understand more. as well as help out my cousins and uncle etc. in any way I can. the more I know the better I will be when I see them again (aunt/uncle and cousins)which im sure will be a awkard time as it is.

Perhaps I will bring the Pot thing up to them instead of my aunt. but only if you believe it will have a benifit on her. I eman somtimes Pot does nothing for me but bring me down at times...

its a lot of rambling im typing fast becasue im at work but any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Kindly

You are better off letting them know you can provide marijuana for them if they feel like trying it. My mother actually took the day off for Chemo and went back to work the next day, she never missed a day over radiation, and she never wanted to try smoking. Your mother is probably feeling guilty she did not have to go through any aggressive treatments, and if she is healthy and never had any problems she is very lucky.

My mother is not so lucky, she is 8 months out of treatment and the cancer has come back. We don't know if its breast cancer this time, and from what I have read its probably somewhere else but I cant make myself sick over something today I know nothing about. I will have plenty of time to take the news as we get it, I know she in good hands at a cancer specialty center. Its great you care so much about your aunt and mother, but don't forget to them smoking weed is not the cure and thats what they will both be looking for. I would hold off asking them about smoking weed until one is actually going through treatment. Some folks from the old school just think its a excuse to smoke dope and will only want to try it if they are in extreme pain or suffering.
