    Has anyone ever Lucid Dreamed?

For those who are unaware of what it is, Lucid Dreaming is basically when you're dreaming, you realize that you are, and you take advantage of it. By doing this, you are basically a GOD in your dream since there are no limits. If you want to fly, you can, if you want to go to other worlds you can.

Anything you think of is possible, if you want it enough. If you want several pounds of Northern Lights to appear right in front of you, it's possible. If you want to have a Lucid wet dream with the girl of your dreams, it's possible. That's why Lucid Dreaming is so freaking awesome.

I'm going to be attempting it tonight, and for those that want to try to get started on achieving this state you should read this FAQ for great tips on it:

GameFAQs - Sleep and Dreams Message Board

And yes, I've heard that smoking some bud before going to sleep helps greatly, both in the lucid dreaming and in the remembering your dream part when you wake up.

yeah, I've done that a couple times. It's really cool. I havn't had one of those for over a year now though.

I don't know if you can really plan on lucid dreaming. For me it just happens.

    Dudes,

Yes it is very cool, been doin it since I was about 7yrs old. Mostly in reoccurring dreams at first, (they are easiest to identify AS dreams). Itā??s cool, but can get scary. Donā??t rush in and think you are GOD. Your subconscious mind can fuck you up dude. :stoned:

*Jealous* For years I've been trying to do this to feel a connection with a friend who passed but I haven't been able to. I guess I never tried it under the influence of cannabis. I will have to try this when I start up again.

    Has anyone ever Lucid Dreamed?

I have lucid dreams and always in the same circumstances. Sometimes, I wake up in the morning when my alarm goes off but I think I'll have another 10 minutes. When I drift off into a light sleep (and am sub-consciously aware that I need to wake up) I can have the most incredible dreams.

There is still the random environment that your mind creates but you seem to know that you are in control of any possibilities that can happen. You can re-live the same moment, like flying over your town and keep on feeling the adrenaline rush as you do it.

The only downer really is that when you do wake-up, it is so so sooooooooo disappointing. You sometimes be in limbo, fighting to stay asleep because you know that when you wake you can never get it back. I've had seemingly very long lucid dreams in the space of drifting off for 5 mins before my second alarm bell rings.

Have any of you ever had sleep paralasys where you wake up mentally but your body is still asleep and you can't move. I scared the living shit out of my girlfriend with it.

I get it very occasionally but once, my girlfriend had got up and had switched on the small light above our bed. She said I made a noise and when she looked at me my eyes were wide open. I remember it perfectly because I was aware of everything I was seeing. I tried to move my arms to get up but my brain could not comminicate with them. I remember my girfriends horrified face. I got my left arm to move off the bed but it was so heavy and was moving in slow motion. I could feel myself straining really hard and she said I was making a horrible gutteral sort of noise. She said my eyes were full of panic and she started crying. It's very strange and the first time it happens to you it is terrifying.

I thought it was something wrong with me. I even considered that I was bieng messed around with by aliens, lol. Seriously. It's quite common though as it turns out and nothing to worry about.

    Has anyone ever Lucid Dreamed?

I had a re-occuring nightmare for many years that I learned to conquer by finally learning to lucid dream. The key is to look for something that let's you know your dreaming, something that just can't be. This is easiest to recognize in re-occuring dreams. In my nightmare it was a certain lamp that would never ever work in the dream. I always kept this lamp working, and so when I would try it and it wouldn't work I would know I was having my nightmare again. From that point on I could alter the course of the dream, and manipulate things to go the way I wanted them to.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

And yeah, I've had sleep paralysis 2 times, very scary the first time since I didn't know what it was. This was when I had a terrible sleeping schedule and usually just passed out in awkward positions on my bed or even in my computer chair.

I've heard it's when your mind wakes up, but your body hasn't. I've also heard that it's just your body locking up when you go to bed to prevent you from sleep walking, and when you wake up really fast your body isn't ready to unlock so you're paralized for a short while.

I've heard that wiggling your toes can help, but I don't know for sure. and nope, no luck on the lucid dream, guess I had too much on my mind.

And yes, sorry, I wouldn't reccomend going into your first lucid dream thinking you're a god of some sorts. That can cause some problems, probably. I would start off easy, doing things like defying gravity and physics, and work your way up to god-like powers.

Also to make sure you're dreaming, reality checks always work. For me I just know that I'm dreaming because whatever is going on at the time doesn't make sense, m y dreams are really random. But for some people, they have normal dreams where they just wake up and they're in their room, completly unaware they are actually dreaming.

Some good reality checks are looking in the mirror, seeing if anything if "off", counting your figures, looking at a clock, then looking again if it says the same time, sometimes pinching yourself can work but I've heard that you can indeed feel pain in dreams.

Which brings me to another thing, please do not die in a lucid dream. IT IS medically supported that the mind will actually think you have died, and will cause the brain to shock you to wake you up to see what the problem is, so just don't die and you're fine. Usually in lucid dreams, your last thought is dieing, and since you control everything and anything that's kind of hard for you to die. So don't worry about it, just wanted to mention something though

I've always found it more difficult to have/remember a lucid dream when going to sleep intoxicated.. You all should do some research on Astral Projection, very interesting.
