Head to Head Polls
This is the first time that I've seen where Real Clear Politics has shown polls where the Republicans beat out BOTH Hillary and Obama in the Presidential race.
RealClearPolitics - Election 2008 - National Polls
Once again.......be expecting a Republican President in the next election.

Head to Head Polls
Looks like McCain is the only one of the GOP front runners who can beat any of the Dems (at least according to polls 10 months before the election). This is the first poll that I've seen that actually shows him winning -- most of the others have shown him as the only one with a chance, but not actually winning, so maybe he is gaining some ground. Still it's so close to even, that it's probably within the margin of error.
McCain is the only one in the GOP race I could support. Romney is too much of a plastic prepackaged douche bag, Huckabee is very likeable but too much of an evangelical for me, Rudy's is a one-note guy whose only issue is terrorism. The rest are not in serious contention, but I can't really stand any of them them anyway.
The problem is that I'm not sure if McCain can get on the ticket. If he doesn't, then I say the GOP has an uphill battle, and your prediction of GOP victory is a bit of a longshot.
Of course, anything can happen with this much time left...More of the same: Renger\'s Rantings

McCain scares me, and his remark about staying in Iraq for the next 100 years if needed really scares me!!

For the Dems it will be either Clinton or Obama. For the GOP, either McCain or Romney.
- Obama vs. McCain --- This is the matchup I'd like to see. I would probably vote for Obama, but I could be happy with McCain winning as well. This would be a close national election, but it would probably be the most decently campaigned election in a long time, with less negativity and more substance. Since both have staked out opposite postions on the war, a lot would hinge on how well the war was going by that point.
- Obama vs. Romney --- I'd vote for Obama. Can't stand Romney. I think Obama would win a national election.
- Clinton vs. McCain --- This is a harder call. I'm a registered Democrat, but I would probably vote for McCain. McCain probaly has a slight edge in a national election, but that is a VERY slim advantage at this point. Again, a lot would depend on the war 10 months from now. If the economy were to slip more, then Clinton could pick up a bit of an advantage.
- Clinton vs. Romney --- I'd vote for Clinton. Can't stand Romney. I think Clinton would win a national election.
I think this will be a very interesting election. There are a lot of candidates in it right now that I do not like, but I don't think they have much of a chance. I think I have a decent chance of being OK with the eventual winner. Another interesting factor will be whether any of the candidates have "coat tails" and will they pull any of their own party into congress on a strong turnout.More of the same: Renger\'s Rantings
