Marijuana Allergy?
I don't know what to call it, but I've been calling it an allergy just to save from explaining. Physically I don't think I get rashes or swelling when I touch marijuana, but when I smoke a lot in a short amount of time I will start having ulcers form on my tongue. Very painful when they start to bleed.
Now I'm going to state this, I've smoked quite a bit in my life. Different suppliers, sometimes my own dealers, sometimes friends, different cities, sometime everyday for a week or so. Other than that I'm generally not habitual. I've done other things too, coke, shrooms, ex, etc... but for some weird reason nothing ever compares to what weed does to me.
Also I'm not an anxious person, nor am I a particularly stressed person.. but when I smoke, I actually go crazy. Doesn't matter how often I do it, could have smoked every day for the last 6 days before, its still the same. It's like a weird mental seizure causing all of my thoughts, sensations, and emotions to systematically fire. Sometimes I get to a point where I can't understand what people are saying, or whats going on. If I smoke too much I'll get actual seizures, or even appear as though I have catatonic schizophrenia, which includes involuntary motor disturbances, extreme emotional excitement, and bizarre flexible postures that depending on the high can be maintained for quite a long time.
Fortunately since being diagnosed with depersonalization disorder, some recently developed coping methods for it have strangely helped me to maintain a little bit more control when I'm high, and now when I limit myself to two puffs, I can ensure that physical seizures can be prevented. Despite only smoking a little however, most of what was mentioned above strangely will still occur.
So unless anyone can pin what this might actually be, I guess I'll still label it an allergy, although I do believe that the majority of the issue is probably neurological, and perhaps related to one of my mental conditions. Not related to marijuana usage, by psychological standards, I am actually considered mentally disabled, and can even claim it on legal and tax documents.

You folks are getting allergy and sensitivity mixed up.
A true allergy will cause anaphalyxis, which is the throat swelling, hives, flushing, low blood pressure, and CAN KILL. Usually very fast onset after contact with the allergen. Those symptoms should not be ignored and those folks risk their lives if they continue to use or be in contact with MJ.
Before I go to the next type, in the olden days, ragweed was a big allergy thing. Well that was wild MJ pollen. Actually a sensitivity.
Now a sensitivity is something like runny nose, watery eyes, coughing some, but no dangerous signs like short of breath, hives, flushing. It is like hay fever. Makes the nose irritated, sneezing, and so on.
This should have nothing to do with legalization. Folks have these issues with environmental, every day stuff.

Marijuana Allergy?
I'm actually experiencing symptoms right now of an allergy to weed. I've been smoking for years and developed flu like symptoms with this particular purchase. It seemed like a cold so I layed off for a day and was fine but then smoking again gave me fever-like symptoms and I felt sicker than I've been in a while. As soon as I first smoked it my throat began to feel strange and within 30 minutes I was stuffy and it happened and again and now I'm just not smoking. I read up on it and apparently it happens sometimes to people who've been in contact for years. I'm gonna wait it out and see what happens...

Lots of people are allergic to the male plant, in the '70s when it still grew wild all over, it was known as ragweed and it bothers me still. The female does not.
But, anyone can develop an allergy to a substance. It happens after at least one exposure or more. Usually each exposure gets worse until medical intervention is required. Just like any other allergy. '
There is a whole chemical process going on that makes an allergy happen. Some may just sneeze and get watery eyes. But, if throat swelling, eye swelling, hives, flushing, or signs of low blood pressure, that person needs immediate medical attention.

I was reading this morning how cannabis uptakes heavy metals. They deliberately planted it around Chernobyl to soak up the radiation from that accident. So, if the plant got some sort of metal uptake, it could present as illness/allergy. Yes, molds are a big allergen, and in some cases I can smell mold when I walk into someones house, I am very sensitive to it.

I find it funny that one of the professors I had told her story about smoking with her brother and then had to be rushed to the hospital. Thinking back that was kind of strange for a professor to tell a story about smoking weed.

Has anyone heard of an actual documented death from an allergic reaction to cannabis? I'm not saying I don't believe someone could be allergic as with anything but I'd think if there ever actually was a death caused by that the antis would never let it down.
