Now that Im hooked up better then Old Mc Donald

Welcome to my stony little garden.

Currently 4 clones, tons of room to expand and not even half way done unpacking the system I bought. I am running a 400W MH light, using Flora nutes, temps got out of hand just like you warned me. Today we got the temps to mid 70s, my Hana meter doesnt speak english or something. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is near ideal.

Yes I know each bucket will flucuate readings. Here is controller am/pm results

    Ph 5.74 5.47
    MS 1.24 1.47
    ppt .62 .73

My nutes say clones (300-400ppm) whats ppm? I looked all over the internet and only came up with ms being microsemens or TDS, and thats the ms on my tester. I cant find what my ms should be or what ppt is. PPM cant be the same as ppt..........at least its better to underfeed then overfeed

I have a confession, 3 of the clones (all afghany) were attacked by a furry beast. I already know they look beat down 3 days ago they were all so cute......till they got eaten and heat stroke.
Temps were 10 higher when I put one right on the edge of the bucket under the light. I mean they look pale and drooping when the light is on. So do I need to give them time to acclimate?

I have a newer home but when I run my 400w MH light the lights flicker but the MH really flickers. I have way bigger lights Im just using my smallest one for this maiden trip. Will turning off other items in my house keep my electrical current more stable?

ppm = parts per million. The instructions on your meter should tell you how to convert the number you are seeing into ppm.

New clones don't like a lot of light. Back your lights way off until you start seeing healthy growth, then move them closer.

Try the house lights without the MH on, then try the MH without the house lights on, see if the lights still flicker. A flicker can often be a sign of a loose connection or loose bulb, so make sure all your connections are good and your bulbs are screwed in tight.

As PC already mentioned, PPT is parts per thousand, vs PPM which is parts per million. The conversion is as simple as multiplying your readout in PPT by 1000 to get your PPM. So, your PPTs of .62 and .73, when multiplied by 1000, yield 620 and 730 PPM respectively.

    nice setup.

i'd try to put the rez outside the cab like in front of the elc outlets. toss a sheet or a moving box over it if u have to but it'll help the temps go down for now. also you can lose the top rez for now if you want those clones won't be taking up that much nutes for a few weeks. i'd just use the controller for now and raise and lower it to mix the nutes nicely every now and again or when mixing new batches.

Drop your numbers WAY back.....730 ppm is about DOUBLE 300-400ppm suggested for your clones or you could fry them.

Keep your ph between 5.6-6.2 always. Keep us updated.

Oh what a great idea, I was already thinking about using the reservior as my controller on the next crop once this one goes into bloom. I can just loose it for now but when you mention the controller box its inside the closet on the end thats closest to the tub and fans, on the opposite ends I went through the wall to get to the electrical outlet.

Thanks weedhound, I was going to mention I took the submersible pump to the last 2 buckets and took the hose on over to reservoir as I drained them, then let them fill back up and pumped them again, so on. Now all buckets and reservoir have tested the same.

OMG, I just tested my 2 sources of water. I bought a sears water distiller and the treated water has PPM of 0. My tap water has PPM of 32, so when I got a little impatient after 16 gallons hadnt filled my stuff up I added tap water that I let sit for 2 days first. I guess thats part of the problem with my PPM being so high.

Thanks for all the info, I noticed some comments youve made about clones recently and I was wondering when its a clone and when its a clipping? Whats the difference in these 2 clones, besides one is OGRE (according to the little stick) 11-14 on the other side. The other clones are afghani I was told and no date on them. So besides the OGRE just looking much healthier with all those little shoots on the stem did the OGRE probably get cut on 11-14? When its roots grow out its a clone? And if its been 8 weeks since being cloned when is the clone stage over and its really now a plant? I am seeing other clones and most of ours look similar but my OGRE just has more to it then even my other clones. Were they all probably cloned the same time?

ya, i just meant if you could move the controller and rez to outside the closet it might help with the temps.

i left like 3-4 ft of tube between my rez and the waterfarms, so i can lift the rez higher then the farms to get all the nutes in the rez to drain into the farms with a good flow to get them to mix well.

you'll probably want to also. once your ph raise's you'll need to adjust it and without emptying the hole system it'll be hard to get it all mixed well or even accurately since there's not any real flow other then gravity. that's why i have the extra slack so i can add the ph down and nutes to a full system then raise and lower the controller rez a few time to get it all to mix well.

but you should look into adding a pump and manifold to make it recirculate.

Luv - The terminology of cuttings/clones/plants isn't really governed by a hard and fast set of rules. When you cut a branch off a plant it is a cutting until it has roots and then it's a clone. That plant will always be a clone, regardless of the stage of its life. Here's a pic of a plant that was taken as a cutting in the middle of November. I just can't imagine that your plant(s) would still be so small if they were cut at the same time.

There's some nute burn showing on the tips of the leaves of your plants. At the same time, you have the typical deficiencies left over from cloning as evidenced by the red stems. I'm not quite sure what this means - lockout maybe? Weedhound's your girl when it comes to waterworks. ...and like the big dawg said, you need to get your ppm's down like yesterday!!!

BTW - I would kill for tap water with only 32 ppm. You sure you did the conversion math right? If the 32 ppm is accurate, your tap water should be perfect for use in your system, and beneficial to your plants 'cuz there's all kinds of goodies plants like in the tap water.

...and before anyone mentions it, yeah, I know my plant has mold/mildew. Humidity here has been below 30% for weeks and still I have to contend with this friggin mildew.
