all i have to say from reading this thread...is every last one of you is immature...lol jk jk, but it makes alot of since.... alot of sites that sell thermal shielding probably are the government, and if you get shipped to ur house/ grow house if your stupid enough to have whomever ship it to your grow house....unless of course they are a legit hydro store, that sells the thermal shielding/polyshield....but it would be tipping them off to just showing up to ur house oneday..... i wouldnt grow indoors without....right now im growin outdoors

and if anyone checks this, where else can u find polyshield, the polyshield website/manufacture i guess,...well they've been out of stock for a year it seems like

Regarding the Supreme Court case... the Court made it unconstitutional to do random fly-overs with FLIR looking for grow-op heat signatures... the key word is random. In the very same opinion the Court said they would not have a problem if the cops were investigating something else and "just happened" to notice a lot of heat in the house next door, or across the street, or on the next block, etc. Basically the cops can't just fly over houses with no reason looking for heat... but if they happen to notice it while doing something else, your fucked.

Trust me, the cops have taken full advantage of that "loophole" the Court decided to throw into our constitutional right against unlawful search and seizure. I'm probably not making much sense, but what I'm trying to say is that, essentially, we are not much safer from FLIR then we were before the Supreme Court case. Now the cops just know how to act (or even h ow to lie) in order to make it seem they are acting "constitutionally".

"We were looking for an outdoor grow in the empty field across the street... and look what we saw at John's house when we flipped on the FLIR..." That will stand up in Court.

The key to avoiding the threat from FLIR is keep your indoor grow small. A couple of lights isn't going to bring any attention to you. Also, the more insulation you use around the grow room itself the better off you are, of course. Natural insulation (by growing in the basement) is a good idea. You still have to vent all that heat somewhere though, or it will kill your plants.... so again, keeping the grow op small is key... sadly, for those of us with an entrepreneurial spirit... or a large desire to help those who can't grow for themselves.

well i couldnt really read all this thread but unless your venting the heat directly outside you got nothing to worry about, the imaging system you guys are all worried about is called a f.l.i.r or forward looking infared. This device if focused on your house will not show an outline of your room due to the heat it cannot i repeat CANNOT see through walls or roofs trust me. when the authorities use these they are looking for an inordanent ammount of heat being vented outside especially in the winter because people really dont expell heat in the winter. if your not venting heat directly outside then relax and sleep well if your still nervous educate yourself on infared technology.

It's true, they are looking for escaping heat radiating from your house or a window, it is also possible for them to see blazing hot HID bulbs through windows and some thin walls. Normally some rooms are obviously warmer than others in any house but a full on grow operation with HID's will exhaust air that is sometimes 90 - 100 F temp wise if cooling the bulbs and venting that very hot air.

So, if you do have to vent air into your attic make sure it's broken down into a diffuser box and centralize it as close to the middle of the roof as possible not right by the edge or vent outside. You can even run it back into the AC box to mix with cold air and blow back into the house out of the growroom and that in turn will just make your AC run a little bit more because the house will then be warmer. (but no heat going outside) Obviously you would want to make 100% sure this air is odor free and filtered through a activated carbon filter in the room first before it comes out and goes anywhere the smell could be detected. Carbon filters really work, they are worth their weight in gold. If you are not running exhaust through a carbon filter you need to get one ASAP. You can eliminate a bunch of these potential pit-falls with high powered LED's and an IR blocking grow tent in the middle of a room.

Use CFLs for lights, they produce very little heat, ventilate well, and insulate, insulate, insulate. If you have and grow in a basement, then its not an issue.

loststix you seem like a cool dude but i cant really understand what you are talking about, whats a spooner and the thing about a garden out front? really not trying to be a jerk it just makes me mad when i dont know whats going on lol. stealth gardening is the only way to go as far as im concerned if people saw me carrying anything into my house i have failed my mission and would immediatly break down my garden and dissasemble everything. matter a fact i just did and am currently 100% in compliance with state and local laws because i had to order some seeds and i didnt want to send them to a friends house so i shut down shop just in case. the only way to be sure these days is to have a secret and when i do get going again no one on this site will ever hear from me again,,,,,,,kinda sad huh lol. take it easy bro
