Run DWC, it's very easy. In addition to being easy to set up and maintain, it's a very productive and cheap method. You can set up a 5-gallon bubbler for about $20 in supplies (bucket, net pot, air pump, air stones).

You can leave the buckets separate in the beginning to get the hang of a hydroponic grow but you will have to monitor them each day. Later on, you can plumb multiple buckets together with a reservoir in a recirculating system. The connectivity and higher volume of nutrient solution allows for a more consistent and stable growing environment.

    I get it. Funny.

I'm not sure I would start off with separte buckets though. It's way easier to have only one res to mess with. Is your logic that if a beginner screws something up in one, it won't kill them all?

Not only that, but also that I would recommend starting off with just a few plants in the beginning (1-4 or so). With only a few plants in the bubblers, I find it didn't take much longer to maintain than did a recirculating system with a reservoir.

What does DWC stand for? I was narrowing my choices down to an Ebb and Gro 12 site system can pick it up for $480.00. Can anyone suggest a good hydroponic book, and any must have equipment.......G....

I'd go with DWC system (Deep Water Culture, also known as a bubbler). They are easy and cheap to build, relatively easy to maintain, and you get great results.

You're definitely going to want a pH Meter, and an EC/TDS Meter (I recommend the Bluelab Truncheon's). At first you can actually get away with a standard test tube and solution pH test kit, and you don't really need an EC/TDS meter, but you will get better results.

Most, if not all, the info you need on DWC systems can be found here: http://boards.cannabis.com/hydroponi...-dwc-club.html

In my opinion, soil was great, but I just love hydro. Anyways, good luck to you!

I always point beginners in hydro in the direction of the Emily's Garden. I started with one, and I'm using one now. It's a very simple DWC, and it produces some amazing results compared to dirt farming. Search it, then buy it for $85 or build one for $35.

And if you don't know what DWC is yet, I'd say you need to read up more on the basic grow styles of hydro.

    The essentials?

Greg Green's MJ Bible, available for free via a link on this forum
    A good light
    Good Ventilation for the light
    A couple of small fans
    Veg nutes
    Bud nutes
    Emily's Garden
A PH meter - not strips
A PPM (AKA EC) meter, once you get serious
    A couple of timers
A clone preferably, or some seeds.
