Easy way to remember is the second letters of brown and blue
r = right
l = left

Brown is earth? In England green/yellow is ALWAYS earth, not brown. I dont know about France though.

Brown is positive, blue negative and yellow/green earth.
LIP Reviewed by LIP on . I need help wiring my 3 prong plug Hello. I'm in France, and I bought a fluorescent lamp by OSRAM that came with wordless instructions for connecting the wires to the lamp (I had to buy the wires at a different store) so I bought the cable with blue, yellow/green and brown wires inside, and I bought a 3 prong plug, (well, here in france it's 2 prongs and one hole). I can't figure out what goes where and what's not supposed to be touching what in the plug. If I could find a pdf with pictures, I think I could figure it out. Rating: 5
