The colored wires are for the convenience of human beings - the electricity couldn't care less what color the insulator is. Regardless, if you don't know how to hook up a plug, you shouldn't be doing it. Take the wire and plug and lamp to someone who knows what they are doing and get it hooked up properly.

PharmaCan Reviewed by PharmaCan on . I need help wiring my 3 prong plug Hello. I'm in France, and I bought a fluorescent lamp by OSRAM that came with wordless instructions for connecting the wires to the lamp (I had to buy the wires at a different store) so I bought the cable with blue, yellow/green and brown wires inside, and I bought a 3 prong plug, (well, here in france it's 2 prongs and one hole). I can't figure out what goes where and what's not supposed to be touching what in the plug. If I could find a pdf with pictures, I think I could figure it out. Rating: 5
