That's right, fellow Wisconsinites. It seems we are one step closer to becoming the country's 13 state to protect those in need of medical marijuana.

With 13 representatives from both major parties either sponsoring or co-sponsoring this year's medical marijuana bill, it is a true bipartisan effort. The bill is known as the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act and would allow patients to engage in the medical use of marijuana without fear of arrest.
To read an inspiring story about Jacki Rickert, click here. To read a great letter to the editor of The Capital Times about the need for a medical marijuana law in Wisconsin, click here.
In 2005, a statewide poll showed that over 75% of respondents would support legislation to permit patients "with cancer, multiple sclerosis, or other serious illnesses to use marijuana for medical purposes, as long as their physician approves."
To send your legislators an e-mail today urging them to represent the desires of their constituents by supporting the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act, click here.
After you have e-mailed your legislators, you may want to follow up with a call asking them to support the right of patients and doctors to decide what treatment is best. Click here to find out who your legislators are. If you already know who your legislators are, simply call the state legislative hot line and ask to speak with them. That number is (800) 362-9472.
Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. If you have any questions concerning the status of marijuana policy reform in Wisconsin, you can contact MPP Legislative Analyst Nathan Miller at (202) 462-5747, ext. 118 or at [email protected]. Also, be sure to subscribe to MPP's free legislative alert service today, if you haven't done so already.
This is a huge step in the right direction. Whether or not this bill will be passed is still unknown, so we can only hope for the best, and encourage our legislators to make the right decision. I highly recommend reading both Jacki Rickert's and Gary Storck's letters (which are linked above). If you're a WI citizen, get involved. Let your voice be heard. Send an email, call the number, anything.
The Legistatrue reconvenes on Jan. 15. May there be hope for those who need this bill to passed.Sir Bliss Reviewed by Sir Bliss on .
