I figured I better start out as cheaply as I could..so stepped up from the fish tank charts to these...they sure make a difference in your grow...do a search on Pen Type PH/TDS meters...TDS meter $22.95..PH meter was about the same or close I do believe...

The problem with the liquid test kits it that you cannot accurately test your nutrient solution (because it is a dark-colored liquid). People who use those kits generally test the pH of their water before adding nutrients and fail to compensate for the sometimes drastic pH change resulting from the addition.

Yes Milwaukee is another good brand. I have two of them with no complaints, and I've heard a lot of others say good things about them as well. One step up is Oakton, which don't have.
