Congrats,Weedhound! Hope you enjoyed that first legal joint as much as I did! I never realized how much paranoia cut into a high! I, too, was quite impressed with the professionalism of my doctor and I got a more thorough check up with him, than with my regular MD! Please remember that there are rippers, Feds and idiot neighbors out there, so I'd continue to keep a low profile. Oh, could you turn Dr. Fry on to my post? Thanks Storm Crow. Kush....I know what you mean.....like a paper tiger but it actually DOES make me feel more releived even though I know the feds couldn't care less about state law. But it certainly makes me NO worse off.....

Altered it depends on the state I think but what was told to me was that I need to have a previous diagnosis from a third party physician of something that the state has ok'd the use the of mmj for. In my case it was depression.......I have a long documented history of it and interestingly enough.....mj has never helped (or hurt) my depression but HAS helped me with a lot of menopausal symptoms which was my main reason for wanting to "go legal." The doctor told me she could really only recommend it for the depression (since it was a previously documented ACCEPTED reason) but hey, if it happened to help with my hormonal crap so much the better.

My hubby uses mmj for insomnia......but does NOT have a documented history of it because he never wanted to take ambien or any of those meds. The PA told him what he would have to do is go to a different doctor and get the diagnosis before they could reccomend it to him. Again....things may be different for different states.

I'm glad you've decided to do this, weedhound...In a worst case scenario, you'll have credentials, and it could possibly save you more trouble :thumbsup:

I went to a very professional clinic in North Cal. The clinic looked just like any other. It was clean and comfortable. I was taken to a examing room and was examined by a genuine Doctor.
I was asked to bring my previous medical records. Just like any other Dr might request. He verified my condition and told me that my quality of life could be improved by cannibus.
The Dr. discussed the different forms and methods for use of MM. I was then given paperwork to take with me and later received a picture ID with magnetic strip on back for immediate verification by law enforcement. It's of similar quality as my state ID. It really gives me peace-of -mind.
I am very grateful to the clinic for their dignified treatment. I have a genuine medical need and I should not be made to feel ashmed for wanting to function normally. Thanks Guys!

His arrest by the feds had nothing to do with his USE of MMJ. He was running a dispensary. If he hadn't been selling anything, they would not have looked at him twice.

I was really excited at first too! Really just relieved that I didn't have to "worry" about using medical marijuana. Then 5 days after I got my recomendation I realized that it didn't mean squat, and that is my current opinion. Please feel free to read the link in my signature and find out why. No matter how sick, what you are doing, no matter how "Legal" you think you are, you are an outlaw to our federal government. Go ahead please read the link!

I've heard and given that very quote a lot lately. Did you know that our forefathers not only grew hemp, but adnittedly they grew Smokable pot, too. The Gov't is way too powerful and they need to stay out of my examining room and I already have a mother. I don't need the feds to teake on that role. Besides, their not very good at it.

Interestingly I've been reading up on the legality of herb as well....mostly the history. I had NOT been aware the ganja was LEGAL and PRESCRIBED by physicians in this country until 1937!!! People were using it as medicine even way back then!! Physicians were PRESCRIBING it. I NEVER knew ANY of this.

Then in 1937 the govt started controlling who could have it and taxing it heavily so it became too hard to for doctors to get ahold of. Eventually it was reclassed and made "illegal."

Time for a change is right!!!!
