fluorescents??
i read somewhere that fluorescent light causes seedlings to grow too fast or high that they end up tipping over.. but i also heard that fluorescent light is good for seedlings for the first two weeks because it isn't too harsh. im so confused!:i feel stupid:

Flouro's work very well for vegging. They can even work quite good for flowering.

Putting a fan aimed at them really helps the stalks get big and healthy.

fluorescents??
Just do a little research on the bulb itself... some "brite white" bulbs do not emit the bands of the color spectrum that promote growth. I don't have the letter designations for them off hand, but there are specific types of bulbs that are used for growing...
I have seen the best selection of growing type bulbs in the aquarium depertment at Petsmart.

fluorescents??
Plants grow tall and spindly and topple over because people don't use enough fluorescent lights, it's not from the lights themselves. It's about lumens per sq. ft., and use enough of them and the plants will grow just fine. It's much easier to use enough by going with HID though. Just make sure you use daylight (about 6000K) for vegging and even more important, warm (about 2500K) for budding. In general plants grow more bushy and shorter with blue light, and taller and with less nodes with red/orange light. There's lots of good info regarding your questions that I'm not going to repeat in this thread: http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-gro...hing-mean.html
