New shoots on mature buds!??
Hey peoples,
I'm on my second ever grow and am 6 1/2 weeks into flower, everything seemed to be going really well until a few days ago when I noticed that there were new shoots growing through the buds, not new buds but actual shoots :wtf: I'm getting a lil scared as I'm still pretty new to this and started flushing today so I can crop as quick as possible!
Is this normal?? Do I leave her another couple of weeks as I was planning or do I give her the chop?? She's been grown under 400w cfl's and has been fed on topmax and tomorite and as I said is 6.5 weeks into flower.
Help me Rhonda! (anyone else's advice also warmly welcomed though)

I've never heard of tomorite, so I looked it up (it's a tomato food) and the NPK is not correct for a flowering cannabis plant.
The Nitrogen value is 4, and high N in flower is one of the primary causes of a poor calyx-to-leaf ratio, which you have in that plant.
The other common one is a light leak.
The last possible contributing factor to that 'dreadlocking' that you are seeing is high temperature.
The deep green color, scorched tips, and leaf shape all point to Nitrogen overdose as a very strong possibility.

Cool, thanks for the advice. It seems I'm doing the right thing flushing her then. I have no light leaks and the temp is 27-30c during the day and 20-22c, these are ok yeah?
Will the "dreadlocking" stop? Do I crop or just give a good flushing and carry on with the topmax?
It was a friend that recommended the tomorite but I'm thinking maybe they just meant for the veg stage?
I should also add that I have scorched a lot of the leaves trying to get the bulbs as close as poss to the bud sites, using 4 x 100w cfl's.

Yes, they probably meant for the veg stage.
The 'dreadlocking' is kinda set by now. you are almost done and now you need to just wait for the trichomes to show ripeness by starting to turn amber on about 10-20% of them.
Do you know what strain you are growing or is it bagseed? The flower time determines if you should flush and then feed only topmax, or if you should flush and then feed a proper bloom fert with lots of phosphorous. If there are more than 2 weeks to expected harvest, you shoudl go grab a bloom fert, whcih you'll need on the next grow anyway.
You are running a little on the hot side actually, adding to the wispy strange bud shape.

It's just a stray bagseed, the plant was also neglected at 3 months old and left in a bathroom for about 6 weeks leaving it with a very spongy stem so I was glad to get anything off of it.
Thanks again for the advice, it's all good and edumacational

New shoots on mature buds!??
Could somebody that knows what they are doing please advise me what I should be doing next with this plant? Am I carrying on as normal, flushing for the next week? Or should I just give her the chop now? This "dreadlocking" has got me worried, the new shoots seem to be overtaking the buds!

Start looking at trichomes. If any are turning cloudy you may want to think about starting the flush phase. Otherwise until then switch to a bloom formula. And get a 30x microscope!
