    250 watt cfl

I'm buying some new grow equipment next week once a cheque clears, grow tent, carbon filters, fans and finally a 250 watt cfl with reflector. Problem being that i can only afford 1 bulb and i don't know wether to buy the red or blue spectrum one. For now i'm only doing lowryder 2s coz im still at my parents house until the summer. I'm thinkin to go for the red bulb since i'm told thats the flowering one, both are 16,000 lumens. Which do you think is best?

Well I have to say this... I assume the folks know that you've got a grow planned, since you're doing a tent, and ya kinda need some serious room for those, lol!

Anyway, the red spectrum one is better simply because for vegging, you can spend like $30 and get a couple shop lights to use while the plants are still short and in vegetative growth. Cool white tubes are perfectly fine for that. I've been using them happily for years after seeing the BOG's excellent results back in the day. Then add the red-spectrum big honkin' CFL when you are ready to flower, and voila! Lots of light. More important, a full spectrum of useable light for your lil' girls.

You can certainly explain to her the technique of LST, which keeps unruly plants short.
The more watts of flourescent light you can cram in there without adding excessive heat, the better!
