Only major problem I can think of would be build up of heat from a combination of heat from the spring/summer depending on the attic and use of lights (depending on your climate to) and that can be fixed with extra venting. Skylights are another advantage if you can install them, ya know the round tubular ones about a foot wide. Nothing better than natural light cause its FREE! Just food for thought.

No propblems apart from heat.. Need to make sure you'v got got ventalation so theres no chance of police helicopters picking up amajor heat source from ur attic.

I read they can only pick up heat sources when they are escaping your house, they can't see through your roof and see all the heat.

If you have a well insulated roof, they won't be able to detect any heat...
Tune in, turn on and drop out

This is not true. Infrared detection CAN see through a roof. A metal roof is a bit harder, but normal fiberglass insulation is not going to prevent the choppers from picking up a hot attic. On the up side, they need a warrant to come looking. On the down side, I wonder if they follow the rules...

it is more expensive than other options, due to the need for more ventilation, cooling, and humidity control...

don't forget, just because they see heat, they won't nessecarily understand what it is

insulate well, get rid of hotspots, hot ceilings, ect... ventilate smart

ya just gotta think a little more

I first considered my attic, but the tallest point in my attic is maybe 4' and I wanted to do an ebb/flow hydroponic system which means the plants would have to sit a foot or so off the floor at a minimum. Then when you add a another few feet for the lamp that only left a couple feet for actual growing. Then I started thinking about dealing with extreme temperatures and chucked the idea.
