    Plant problems, a little advice?

Hey, can't find the appropriate place for this thread, so move it if you can!

Anyways, all of the leaves on my plant are dark green (not too dark) with almost neon yellow edges... do you think having hard water is the problem or is it a more serious nute problem? sorry, no photos yet. It looks like someone just went around the outside of a white leaf with a yellow highlighter and colored the rest normally.

I think it's the cold temperatures, it's in a basement (not heated) and it's winter...

Well the photo sarah put up is a photo of a plant with a deficieny....not an overnuted plant so it sounds like maybe a different problem.

Check the link and see if anything there strikes your fancy.

    good luck.

    Plant problems, a little advice?

Sarah put up a pic of a plant with a deficiency in zinc (primary problem) and possibly Mg as well. That can come from lock out especially from too much bloom food with phosphorous in it- or if you use bone meal too aggressively.
In a cellar, you HAVE to get your plants up off the floor so the soil is not being chilled. That will certainly cause problems in uptake of nutrients, and give def-like symptoms. Then many growers will try to fix that by feeding, and end up with burn, too! Ow. Post pics when you can.

In the meantime, the trick to a plant enduring cold temps is:
-Lighter soil- more perlite than usual
-Keep pH VERY stable in range- 6.7 and don't allow to go out of range! Cold+wet+acid=dead
    -lift plants off floor
-water less than a plant in a warmer environment
-keep an eye on %rh and do not allow dewfall at ';night'
-seedling heat mats cost about $20-25 US each and are good for 2-gallon pots or 6-quart pots each (12x24"). They are wonderful.

thanks stinky attic! thank you everyone, I looked at the pictures more closely and sarah was right, a zinc deficiency, though not as bad as in the picture. I don't have it on the property, in a buddy's house so I have to go off of cell phone pictures I took. Got some high zinc micro nutes, hopefully that'll help, I'll also keep it off of the ground.
