A little help please(first time)

Hey everyone my first post my first grow...anyway I used to think oh I don't need any help growing ill just readup on it and be fine wellllll damned to be wrong. I have a problem with my growing what im using [Some walmart soil the PH was good had all the nutrients for first 3months---An aquariam florescent lighting and regular water that I let sit out in room temp. open container for 3days]. My plants when I first started sprouted quick 3inches in a week but now as time goes by they are slowly growing if not at all some of the lower leaves have become wilted and dieing(is that normal?) and what pesticide would be a great choice and not be to strong to nuke the plant with the taste of pesticide if you need pictures I can take some for a visual reflection any comments or thoughts would be most grateful and thanks in advance.

ok first there is going to be a lot of information we need.

what kind of light are you using. you say your using florescents what are the watts and the luminessents?

when plants start off they dont really need all that much nutes in fact starting off with none is best. the lower leaves will die off from my experience but thats just the round little ones at the bottom. as for pesticides do you know for sure that there is anything on them? i mean why poison anything if there isn't a need.

how often are you watering, do you have it in an enclosed areas? what is your air flow like? how many plants are we talking about here?

Im interested to see what exactly is going on here. sounds a lot like my first grow.

My grow room is in my closet, for now im using a 15w fluorescent industrial light and its 2 plants the seeds I got out of a bag I had of some green stuff my guy said they were all female(not sure to early to tell) but I don't have constant air flow I open my closet most of the day and get a fan running in there and for the pesticide theres a bunch of bugs at the bottom in the soil(kinda looks like nats) I water about 2 liters every other day I have no clue of the luminessants the light puts off(didn't keep the box) and for the pictures ill take some and upload them in my next post.

i wonder if you mean the plants are droopy, as in overwatering....the gnats , 2liters of water every other day for seedlings....thats alot.

only one is a seedling one of them is about 5inches-6inches havn't measured yet the other one I planted late(it germinated late) and its a little behind only 1inch maybe 2inches and I barely give that one water and its really green and working good my problem is the 6incher the leaves became wilted at the bottom the tops were getting wilted but it seems now its reversing them and whats with the gnats???? is that normal?

You need about .....couple hundred more watts first of all. You REALLY need to read up on your lighting.....15w/aquarium light isn't going to work.

Alright well I planned on buying a 6-pack of CFL's think has a total of 830lumens would that be good for lighting and any other useful tips would be nice like right now I got it them both growing in a 5gallon white plastic bucket I just put a little more watts in there until I can gather all my stuff and im using this weird soil that has pieces of wood in it is there anything bad about that?

I can't help you with soil I'm afraid.....I grow in hydro. For your white buckets you need to cover the white so no light gets through to your roots. For the bugs you need to get a good bug spray (I like "Don't Bug Me" by Foxfarms). The more problems you have going (and it sounds like you have several) the more stress you put on your plants. You have some good intentions but what you really need is good knowledge....you just can't raise these plants without the right light, soil, food, ph, etc...no matter how much you try.

Yeah im reading just about every grow log on this forum seeing others problems and peoples posts to fix them but about the bugs when I do spray do I wanna spray my plant or the soil because ive gotten a scope and checked the plants out they seem to be fine its just like hundreds of these gnats congregating in my soil:wtf:
