THis is just a guess but I would say why not use a soil/medium recipe thats known to be succesful instead of taking a chance with designing your own?
I've heard that sand is pretty useless. I would think that you want your soil or medium to retain some moisture so that your roots have contact with nutrient rich moisture. Maybe it would work but I would go with time tested and true methods.
Stormcooker Reviewed by Stormcooker on . QUESTION on soilless medium Would a soilless medium be better than soil assuming it dries out faster. For example if I had a mixture that would completely dry out in a day and I was able to water every other day using a five gallon bucket. I would use 50% perlite 25% peat and 25% sand. Would this increase yield without the risk of messing up like a hydro system? I would also use floragro 3 part nutrients. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Rating: 5
