If you are talking about the U.S. you are totally wrong. To begin with "probable cause" has no bearing whatsoever upon the entering of a dwelling. As a cop you either have a warrant, or you are given egress. There is no such thing as "probable cause" even in the grand request for a warrant from a judge. Either you have witness to a crime, or you don't.
