replacing whip screen?

Hey granny how do you clean your hands-free whip (the glass stem part), mine's gotten rather covered and i figure theres no reason not to clean it, but if those layers are smokeable and/or revapable, theres certainly no reason to wash it away

I went and got a 3/8 x 36 oak dowel and I'm still going nutz w/this confound contraption. So, I was wondering what the mofoing trick?
